This book was so much fun! There was room for more humor.... a lot of room.... but it didn't need to go there. For as much fun as it contained it was also serious without ever being too serious. I loved the tale, the characters and the telling.

NARRATOR: Excellent as well....

HEAT FACTOR: Steamy!!!!

CREDITWORTHY?: oh yes.

Excellent!

It’s a fun book. They switch bodies at a time when women had so very few freedoms added a desperation to this fun trop that more modern books can’t. I wouldn’t say it removed all the humor but it did add a layer making it worth the read. The caustic relationship between the main characters was a little over played at the start but by the end it makes more sense and isn’t contrived at all. It’s well written never repeating it’s self and nothing feels line filler. The narrator isn’t terrible so it works.

Fun

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story was fine however the narrator just killed it for me.
Her male voices sounded like 70 year old men
Terrible. Kills the atmosphere of romance at the core.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Unlike other books by other authors I have listened to (and there great many) in this one I did not relate to any one single character. Could be the narration...

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Veida Dehmlow?

There are great many excellent narrators. I think a male voice would have worked well for this book.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Can not imagine it

OK story, but very bad narration

What a great storyline. Something different for sure and really interesting. I recommend this book to other readers!

Very unusual

Setting: England 1822
Genre: Romance

Narration was average. I wasn't immersed in the story, nor was I kicked out of it by mispronunciation or overly melodramatic delivery.

The premise of this is not new, but the author freely admits that it is a take on the switched personalities trope in a historical setting. The characters had definite personalities, and they definitely set off sparks in their dealings with one another. Their chosen lifestyles are so diverse, you have to wonder how they functioned. The author didn't take the opportunity to give humor to some of the situations except for Lady Corinna's confusion over what to do with a man's morning erection. However, the mutual hatred went too far and too deep. You have to wonder how they could ever forgive some of the things they said and did. But it does make the conciliation more dramatic in a way. I just wish the story had been tightened up and shorter.

Interesting premise

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. When I read that the story involves a paranormal body swap it put me off a little bit as I was more in the market for a traditional historical romance. But this book has become one of my favourites. The characters are so well-drawn that the unusual elements of the story do not overtake the Romantic heart of the narrative. This book was also more literary and intelligent than I expected it to be. I was kept awake at night worrying over the characters and now I am sad to be leaving their world.

Character driven and gripping

This was a fun story and would have been great had the narrator been better. The narrator was awful. The men sounded like old crotchety, scratchy voiced men. It was almost unbearable to listen to her do the hero's voice.

The story itself was good, I liked the Freaky Friday twist. There was lots of good dialogue. Sexual tension and one well written sex scene.

A strong hero and heroine. The Heroine was not whiny, shy and whimpering, which is a plus in book. The hero was strong and handsome (but did not sound that way due to the awful narration)

Narrator Veida Dehmlow should practice doing men's voices or don't narrate.

Fun Story! Awful Narration!

This is the first Jennifer Ashe book I read and I really enjoyed it! The argument scenes between the hero and heroin are really funny. I was a bit apprehensive at first with the narrator but then as I got used to her style,
I enjoyed it.

What a pleasant surprise!

it was a funny story, I enjoyed the charaters,, but narrator's male voice sounds like an old man, making it difficult to appreciate, specially during the more erotic moments

good story
