Story
American Book Award-winning author Tananarive Due's second collection of stories ranges from horror to science fiction to suspense. From the mysterious, magical town of Gracetown to the aftermath of a pandemic to the reaches of the far future, Due's stories all share a sense of dread and fear balanced with heart and hope. In some of these stories, the monster is racism itself; others address the monster within, or other universal struggles set against the supernatural or surreal. All of them are written with Due's trademark attention to detail and deep characterization.

Featuring an introduction by Peele and an all-star roster of beloved writers and new voices, Out There Screaming is a master class in horror, and—like his spine-chilling films—its stories prey on everything we think we know about our world . . . and redefine what it means to be afraid.

Story
Anwuli Okwudili prefers to be called AO. To her, these initials have always stood for Artificial Organism. AO has never really felt...natural, and that's putting it lightly. Her parents spent most of the days before she was born praying for her peaceful passing because even in-utero she was "wrong". But she lived. Then came the car accident years later that disabled her even further. Yet instead of viewing her strange body the way the world views it, as freakish, unnatural, even the work of the devil, AO embraces all that she is.

Story
Fred Daniels, a Black man, is picked up by the police after a brutal double murder and tortured until he confesses to a crime he did not commit. After signing a confession, he escapes from custody and flees into the city’s sewer system. This is the devastating premise of this scorching novel, a never-before-seen masterpiece by Richard Wright. Written at the height of his creative powers, it would see publication in Wright's lifetime only in drastically condensed and truncated form, and ultimately be included in the posthumous short story collection Eight Men.

Three angels - Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, the youngest and most human - are sent by Heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darkness. They work hard to conceal their luminous glow, superhuman powers, and, most dangerous of all, their wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments. Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods, and neither of them is able to resist the attraction between them.

Anyone familiar with H. P. Lovecraft's work knows of the Necronomicon, the black-magic grimoire he invented as a literary prop in his classic horror stories. There have been several attempts at creating this text, yet none stand up to Lovecraft's own descriptions of the Necronomicon...until now. Fans of Lovecraftian magic and occult fiction will delight in Donald Tyson's Necronomicon, based purely within Lovecraft's own fictional universe, the Cthulhu Mythos.

My Soul to Take
Very disappointing for the last book in the Black Immortals series!! The narration was horrible!! Now I've heard this narrator in other books, and enjoyed her, but this was not the book for her!! The voices of the Male characters all sounded like they were having issues breathing!! Fawna sounded far too much like a space cadet baby!! The story line definitely deviated to these 2 main character's trying to take a God like stance!! Not appreciated at all! Let's do a fifth to give the long term series readers a better ending!! Give Fawna a sister to set things right, and for pity sakes bring Caldoun out of hiding!!

All over the place
I love Tananarive Due, My Soul to Keep was my first introduction to her work and I haven't regretted it. However, this book I feel like there were way too many characters to keep up with and the throwing in of characters from another book that I haven't read yet felt unnecessary. The time frames was confusing. What happened in the 10 years between the proposal and wedding? Why'd they do Johnny like that? Caitlin, the kid with Sickle cell?? I know every book will not wrap things up in a neat little bow, but this was kind of infuriating. If there is a book 5 just please focus it on Fana and Michel.

Read at your own risk!
I was extremely disappointed by the narration and production of this book in particular. The change in voice and pronunciation of character names from the previous stories took my focus from the story. Also the storyline with Fawna and Michel was too overly dramatic. Neither of them were particularly likable so it was hard to care about what happened to them in the end. Jessica’s character also digressed and became slightly overbearing. This final volume did not live up to the previous editions. This was my second time reading this series. The first time was about 7 years ago and I actually read the books. I remember loving My Soul To Keep and The Living Blood but couldn’t remember the last two. I thought listening might be easier this time. It was, but again, the change in narrator disturbed me. Regardless of that the story just wasn’t powerful enough. Read at your own risk!

Where is Patricia Floyd?
Please, please, get the narrator right & correct. Where is Patricia Floyd when we need her. This narrator CANNOT pronounce correctly the most simplest of words. Learn the way to at least say the places in California, they are Spanish . Frustrating. Please use Patricia Floyd.

Mixed Bag
The narrator had a hard time with the names, accents and general tone of the story. It was all too distracting.
