This audiobook embraces birth as a rite of passage in which you open to the unbidden, embody your own wisdom, and gain freedom from limiting beliefs. Parents giving birth today do so within a society highly influenced by underlying ideals - including a need for control and certainty, vilification of pain, and reverence for intellectual knowledge and technology, among others. Dr. Bushnell brings clarity and awareness to these foundational ideals.

Story
For many women in their 20s and 30s, the greatest professional hurdle they'll need to overcome has little to do with their work life. The most focused, confident, and ambitious women can find themselves derailed by a tiny little thing: a new baby. While more workplaces are espousing family-friendly cultures, women are still subject to a "parenting penalty", and high-profile conflicts between parenting and the workplace are all over the news, from the controversy over companies covering the costs of egg freezing to the debate over parental leave and child care inspired by Mark Zuckerberg's two-month paternity leave.

A bit of everything
Great for first time dads who know very little.
Would be great to go more into depth about ones mindset, the needs of our partners, and detailed preparations (eg a PDF with checklists for every month).
Overall good, but not enough new insights for me.
Great narration.

BEST BOOK, TO WIN THE DAD GAME!
This book has humorous moments, but it also contains serious information that will be helpful to both parents-to-be and those who have just given birth. The information about how crucial it is to assist your partner in the beginning is especially valuable. In comparison to other books, this important counsel is not given with the same level of sensitivity in this one.
Additionally carefully conveyed in straightforward, practical language are the practical skills that dad has to master. Particularly motivating is the persistent exhortation to fortify ties, demonstrate empathy, and work as a team. The inclusion of postpartum depression in this audiobook was nice, and it was quite intriguing.
The narrator played a very significant role by highlighting all the important points.

A delightfully interesting book for new dads
This book is funny in places but the information contained is very serious and invaluable to couples who are trying for a baby as well as those who are expecting or recently had a baby.
I particularly value the information regarding the importance of supporting your partner in the early days. This crucial advice is underrepresented in similar books but is provided so sensitively in this book. The hands-on skills that dad needs to develop are also sensitively explained in practical language that is easy to understand. The consistent encouragement to strengthen bonds, have empathy, and work as a team are especially inspiring.
It was lovely to see postpartum depression given a space in this audiobook; really interesting.
