About this listen

We thought we'd play a fun prank on her, and now most of us are dead.

One last laugh for the summer as it winds down. One last prank just to scare a friend. Bringing a mannequin into a theater is just some harmless fun, right? Until it wakes up. Until is starts killing.

Luckily, Sawyer has a plan. He'll be a hero. He'll save everyone to the best of his ability. He'll kill as many people as he needs to so he can save the day. That's the thing about heroes - sometimes you have to become a monster first.

this story brings like a bad creepypasta

the narrator was nice but if you're looking for a scary story keep looking. there's lots of plot holes and for a while I kept thinking this must be a parody of some sort.

Wasn't as bad as reviewer was made out to be.

I found the beginning slow but the ending make it worth the listen and the trip

Great narration

Horror, not my type of story. Similar to a Stephen King story, but not as well done. Loved the narration though.

Whatever you think this is, it’s not it.

This story unsettled me a little, but I guess that’s the point. It’s not the horror that unsettled me, it’s what happens to the children. So, if kids getting killed is a trigger for you, then I’d skip this one. The concept itself was unique. And this is the best Novella I’ve ever read that portrayed madness so perfectly.

Reminds me of an 80’s movie.

This reminds me of an 80’s movie of a group of friends. I enjoyed it a lot.

Fertilizer Stealing Mannequin

I'm not sure what the heck actually happened... but I did enjoy it! A quick paced story that had me wonder wtf majority of the time. It was entertaining and the narrator killed it!

What the…What?

I’m still thinking about this one.
Little confused & almost disgusted. Ha. Usually I can dig a psychological killer thriller - but I’m not sure how to take this one.
Great idea tho . Just not quite there with the clarity I don’t think. I, myself used to have a dark sick mind “so to speak” in writing, but switched genres. I’m feeling like this was a little too senseless? If that makes sense.
Not sure. Gonna ponder this a bit further. Definitely a “thinker” book.

It's fine.

This is only my second Stephen Graham Jones book. I was ultimately let down. I love his writing. I love his style. THE ONLY GOOD INDIANS is a fantastic read! This one, though...it was fine. There's nothing inherently wrong with it...it just feels like a mediocre CREEPSHOW segment. Not much else to say about it, 3/5.

Really Creepy and Fun!

A really original, creepy horror story. This main character’s mind is crazy! A tribute to old horror flicks too.

SGJ can't miss!

This was very entertaining short novella audible book by one of my favorite horror authors Stephen Graham Jones. Even though it was a little predictable of an outcome I thoroughly enjoyed the story and will probably end up picking up a hard copy of this book to go with every other book of Jones' I currently own. It was fun just don't think to hard into it. If there was something I had to mark it down for was the narrator. He was a little dry in his delivery but it was not too bad. I recommend this book if you are looking for a quick fun read. 4 stars!
