Publisher's summary

The Duke of Huntington has no interest in an eccentric redhead who frowns at him over her spectacles…until he realizes that she is the only possible duchess for him. A new enemies-to-lovers romance by New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James.

Bespeckled and freckled, Lady Stella Corsham at least has a dowry that has attracted a crowd of fortune-hunting suitors—which definitely doesn’t include the sinfully handsome Silvester Parnell, Duke of Huntington, who laughingly calls her “Specs” as he chases after elegant rivals.

And then—

The worst happens. Marriage.

To the duke. To a man marrying her for all the wrong reasons.

How can Silvester possibly convince Stella that he’s fallen in love with the quirky woman he married?

I really liked it, a little confused

So, I really did like this book. However I kept expecting there to be the giant problem listed in the description. As we got closer and closer to the end I kept waiting and waiting… nothing. Anyway! Still a good book.

She learns to stand up for what she wants .

Great premise. A young woman who has been beleaguered about every single thing in her life. She had been trained to be a door mat . But she is of good birth and has a handsome dowry. Her only weapon is she is smart and says what she thinks.
She demonstrates the old rule of thumb that girls can not just be friends with a handsome man with out feeing attraction. This was what happened to her. She loves him but he is enamoured with another girl and swears that woman is the one he wants to marry.
Well he cannot have everything his way.
I like that the author addressed this topic. It is a painful situation that every person faces at one point in their lives. Most times the result does not end as good as it did for the couple in this book.
The narration was well done. Excellent job.

Love the personal connection at the end of the Novels.

If you love Julia Quinn novels you will adore Eloisa James… maayyybe even more. Something I love about Eloisa, at the end of every novel, she gives some history about the story. And she connects her personal experience to the story/characters at the end of the books. This one’s personal significance was super sweet. Love her writing also the sauce is spicier than Julia Quinn’s novels. I’ve really enjoyed her books and the character development and stories she creates. On to the next one!!

Not That Duke!

I liked this audiobook. The characters were interesting. I really liked Stella I could relate to her and her insecurities. She has red hair, freckles and wears spectacles. She is also more rounded. The Duke of Huntington,Silvester was a bit clueless. He was infatuated with Lady Yasmin. She is blonde and beautiful. The Duke is also competing with Lord Giles for Yasmin. Stella and Silvester have a a lot in common but he keeps leaving her for the other lady. The narrator is wonderful.

Stella got her Groove!

Eloisa always crafts a great read that keeps us coming back for more and we are here for it with Not That Duke! Stella, the wanna be Wallflower keeps us intrigued as she falls for the Duke of Hunnington. The quirky Specs grows as a character as her love story unfolds. Enjoyed this read and recommend the Wallflower series to all who love a good romance series!

A tale beautifully told with interesting and complex characters

Eloisa James is once again sensitively depicting the ups and downs of romance and true love as young women find their way through the inevitable strum und drang of coming of age
