About this listen

Sometimes living in the Big Apple really bites! Eighteen-year-old rock star Sam Lee isn't like other girls. She's the super-talented bass player and songwriter for an all-girl indie band and an incurable loner. Then one night after a concert in Central Park, she's attacked by a "wild dog." Suddenly, this long-time vegetarian is craving meat - the bloodier, the better. Sam finds herself with an unbelievable secret and no one she trusts to share it. And so begin the endless lies to cover up the hairy truth…When a new girl gang appears in the city - with claws and paws - Sam suspects there's a connection to her own inner beast. Trapped in a tug-of-war between her animal and human selves, forced to choose between the guy who sparks her carnal appetite and the one who makes her feel like a normal teenage girl, Sam has to unravel the mysteries of the werewolf world before her bandmates, the media, and her mother catch up to her.

Very Good

it has a very good suspense without being erotic, and itis about a girl becoming a wolf from a bite which i love those kind of stories.

PAINFUL* idea for young readers* lame Puns

What would have made Not Your Ordinary Wolf Girl better?

Taking out the horrible puns. This made the read annoying.

What could Emily Pohl-Weary have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

This book was a hard one for any narrator to make enjoyable. It was written for a young reader.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Annoyance.

Any additional comments?

This was a cute story. Young teen audience would best enjoy the read. The cheesy puns make it difficult to read. The story is simple and seems like the writer is a newer author. The style of writing is not developed.

Lots of Spoilers; Lots of Disappointment

For 85% of the book I was with the protagonist. Appreciated her attitude and her willingness to help others. But, then, the author decided that the actual basis of the story involved updating the old horrifying romance trope of being raped but the guy was hot and it turned out okay because the heroine got totally into him which made the terror and abuse just water under the bridge.

This is definitely a YA novel, and I'm very upset that young people may be reading it and getting the wrong ideas about relationships and what is acceptable and what is not.
