About this listen

A noted criminal defense attorney, Robert Rotenberg, delivers a courtroom drama that successfully evokes the multicultural city of Toronto even as it keeps readers on the edges of their seats. In the tale, the "Voice of Canada", a radio host, confesses to murder - but the case is far from closed.©2009 Robert Rotenberg (P)2009 Recorded Books, LLC Legal Mystery Thriller & Suspense Fiction Thriller

Critic reviews

"Rotenberg also fires sly and funny barbs at political correctness and bureaucratic inanity." ( Booklist)

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I've never been to Toronto but lived in Calgary, Alberta while growing up. This book takes me back to Canada in a real way. I love the feel of it. Toronto is as much a character as anyone in the book. The story is well-plotted & well-written, & the reader is great. I will definitely look for more from this author & this reader! Thanks for some wonderful hours listening.

I love this book!

I bought this because I found it in some list of good legal thrillers, but it's not that. There is a court case, or at least a legal case that doesn't ever get to court, but the only reason to read this book is to explore urban Canadian social relationships. Set in Toronto, with a cast of ethnic characters that is mildly interesting except for the fact that most American cities have more of an array. The denouement is hardly mind-blowing. I found the whole thing pallid, to tell the truth. The narrator is just OK. Someone with more range could make the ethnic appearances more interesting.

It's Canadian
