About this listen

No straight women. No parents of students. Nobody under 35. Vanessa Martini makes no apologies for her dating checklist. She’s been up close to enough messy breakups to know what havoc they wreak in life. Just because people see her as fun and happy, and just because she loves her life in general, that doesn’t mean she can’t be careful. Or discerning. Or, okay, fine, super picky.

Grace Chapman is tired of being judged by her boss, by the husband she’s divorcing, by her parents. All she cares about now is her six-year-old son, Oliver. The divorce is making him act out in school, and she just needs to find a way to help him so they can start again. What she does not need is the silent judgment she gets from his teacher. His wildly attractive, super sexy, annoyingly gorgeous teacher.

Grace ticks all Vanessa’s "Do Not Date" boxes. Vanessa is yet one more person who disapproves of Grace. Of course, they’re never going to fall in love.

Loved story but not narrator

Beers knocks it out of the park as always. I was pulling for these ladies from the start. Great characters, great story development.
I always get the audio on a Beers book, too, but I did not care for the childlike voice the narrator used sometimes. It didn’t work for me and constantly took me out of the story. I know that’s not what’s intended so it’s puzzling why they used this same narrator again after the first book.
I wish the narrator would just read the book instead of trying to act out different voices.
That being said, I still plan on getting the third in this series! Rock solid writing.

Another winner from Georgia Beers

I really don’t understand it, but Georgia always comes through with a true romance novel. The storyline is fantastic and the narration is outstanding.

Love this Series

I absolutely love the characters in this book and the series. Beer’s makes their personal struggles so real. I felt every doubt and concern. I love the way she writes. I hope she writes more than three books in this series. I can’t wait to push play on #3.

Love this series!

The Martinis are a loveable family, quirky as can be, but super cute! I love the dynamic between the cousins too. The characters continue to be enjoyable and with some depth and AJ Ferraro voice brings them to life. Can't wait to jump into the next book. Highly recommended!

Enjoyable read

it was fun to get hints of the appealing up state NY community and the Junebug animal shelter.

Lies (semi-spoiler)

This book is actually not bad for what it is. It's what it isn't that is the problem since it clearly states that one of the lead characters is straight in the Publisher's Summary. That character clearly identifies as bi throughout the whole book and not straight. To most people this wouldn't matter too much. To me it was a big deal as I am a big fan of that inner turmoil to come to terms with something about themselves that they didn't even really know, let alone understand. Not to compare sexual orientation with super powers but it's that same type of struggle that makes me like a superhero origin story movie and not any of the other movies about them.
