What did you like best about Paris, My Sweet? What did you like least?
I like getting the perspective of a single woman in Paris. I think she is too obsessed with dessert though and I am surprised she is not diabetic or a member of the differently sized community.
I like these French memoir books but I also fetal they romanticize life in Paris. It is a city like my other. I do not believe in the French mystique but enjoy the story as being this woman's experience.
Would you be willing to try another book from Amy Thomas? Why or why not?

How can she not be diabetic and weigh 300? Other people I know that eat like this a lot of health problems.
I also think the author comes across as a bit spoiled and ungrateful for het blessings in life. Would like to see a more appreciative attitude for what she has. I do not mean become phony and a bragger but I never detect gratitude. She is fortunate to have the nice job in NYC and to go to Paris and have these lovely experiences.

It was a nice surprise
I actually purchased this book because it had one my all time favorite narrators: Cassandra Campbell. (the other fav is Bernadette Dunne)
It was a good mixture of culinary speak and a interesting story. Just moving to NYC, I liked that she gave reviews of great dessert places. It made me hungry listening to it at times since she spoke of amazing desserts.I now have a list of places that I need to go to so I can enjoy some of these amazing treats.
One complaint, (which really shouldn't be one since it was based on a true story), I kept wanting it to become a romance story. I wanted so bad for her to meet her mr. right in the city of lights, but it wasn't about that. It was about a gal who loved desserts and was in the middle of deciding what she should do, stay in paris or go back to nyc.

Chocolate and travel are a perfect combination
I saw this book at Barnes and Nobles and immediately came home to buy the audio copy. It was everything I wanted it to be; full of humor, real life situations, travel, and just like it promised- SWEETS!
I loved following the author on her journey. There are some great life lessons in this about moving away from friends and family and the realities of following your dreams.
