Only Valuable if you Believe in Past Lives
I listened to this audiobook hoping to learn more about getting past certain problems I've been having in my relationships and in my emotional life. This author believes that these problems are related to trauma experienced by people who lived years ago who experienced trauma, and that their trauma is influencing you right now - or that you shared a common soul with these people and that their subconscious is connected to you. She explains that she had recurring dreams of going to a cottage with a rocking chair, and that she realized that thas was the home of her past life persona.
So the whole book centres around a series of 4 therapeutic hypnosis sessions where you are first guided to let go of the current reality, and then through concentration and effort of your imagination, seeing yourself walking in a dream state and then get information from past lives to explore what happened to these people, and then letting go of their trauma in order to get free yourself.
The problem is that the only way this would work, is if you gave yourself totally over to the visualization exercises presented here, and you start to believe that what you're "seeing" didn't come out of your own brain, but that you're actually connecting to a higher consciousness that connects you through time to past lives. Which I just couldn't do. So the session did absolutely nothing for me - and I suspect, it won't do anything for you either.
I would suspect that most people seeking help, actually has to face their bad decisions in life, or places where they were abused by loved ones, or places where their parents messed up. That takes prober therapy and conscious effort, and cannot be resolved by simply imagining all your trauma like a ball of string that you unravel - thus magically setting yourself free.
So if this is something that you believe in, or are willing to explore, by all means listen to this audioobook. But if you really want to get free from trauma, seek professional help. Or go to church.
