surprisingly good

Great book. It was bit slow to start and it is not advertised very well as to where this is on the HR time-line. I thought it was after Fallen Star and ot took a few chapter's before I realized this was set before the 1st HR book- Light of the Jedi. It gives a back ground of where the Nihil come from and establishes where some of the hate for the Jedi stems. Excited to see where this goes and how it ties into the books set after Fallen Star. This is a must read.

Finally.

Since the release of the first high republic book, I’ve been following pretty closely because I want to be caught up in the current Star Wars canon. So far, all of the books in the high republic series have been exceptionally mid.

I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It had great characters who all felt distinct, new worlds and cultures, and it shed more light on the other books.

This one gave me hope that more good High Republic books are coming.

Surprisingly great story. Perfect vocal performance.

This story started the Phase 2 of high republic right. If you aren’t reading the YA novels, i would say this was on par with or better than some of the adult ones. It was fascinating learning some of the back story from Phase 1. It was more than backstory though, we were introduced to captivating characters that you could easily relate to and a tragic love story that tore at my soul. The vocal performance was phenomenal and really immersed you in the story. A very different style to other high action Star Wars novels but a welcome one. High republic really has it all and i look forward to more from this Phase.

Excellent book. Worthy installation of Star Wars: The High Republic

I have thoroughly enjoyed THR era, & the beginning of phase 2 did not disappoint.

While the book started off, what *seemed* slow, was quickly validated by the sheer volume of detail the book gave was tying it to phase 1 in the latter chapters.

Lots of fun payoffs. High recommended as a part of a chronological read through of all of Star Wars: The High Republic.

That said - if you’re interested in a clean jumping on point 150 years BEFORE phase 1 - this creates that opportunity as well!
