About this listen
Waverly Bryson is a successful businesswoman in her late 20s who almost has it all: a dream job in sports PR, two best friends, and a bar where everybody knows her name. What she doesn’t have is a ring on her finger. And after being ditched at the altar, she’s in no hurry to get one. Besides, plenty of other issues keep her busy, including her wayward father, a new rival at work, and an ever-nagging fear that her life is not turning out as she thought it would...or should.
To stay sane, Waverly makes a habit of jotting down “Honey Notes”, self-deprecating bitsof single-girl humor that she hopes to one day develop into a line of greeting cards: "Can’t face the dating scene after a bad breakup? Honey, hit the bar, and hit it hard. Beer goggles are the lonely girl’s Cupid."
As Waverly stumbles back into the dating scene (no stalkers or jean shorts, please), her personal and professional lives threaten to collide. Perfect on Paper reminds listeners that everyone has had a bad date (or 12), and that everyone needs a best friend to tell them, “Honey, you are not alone.”

Hockey star Max Yearwood was everything I needed at the time - fun, sexy, up for anything, and only around for a few months, since he’d signed with a new team 3,000 miles away. Max proposed we spend the summer helping me forget my ex. It sounded like a good plan. Things couldn’t get too serious when we had an expiration date. Right? Though, you know what they say about the best-laid plans.

Story
Andrew Yancy—late of the Miami Police and soon-to-be-late of the Monroe County sheriff’s office—has a human arm in his freezer. There’s a logical (Hiaasenian) explanation for that, but not for how and why it parted from its shadowy owner. Yancy thinks the boating-accident/shark-luncheon explanation is full of holes, and if he can prove murder, the sheriff might rescue him from his grisly Health Inspector gig (it’s not called the roach patrol for nothing).

Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant. While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia.

Where does Perfect on Paper rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I've only listened to two and the other, witness by Nora Roberts
Was fantastic. So, this is the second best book I've listened to.
What other book might you compare Perfect on Paper to and why?
I don't have a comparison
Which scene was your favorite?
At the friends wedding when she was at the
Singles table and each person described attributes
That would eliminate someone from being a candidate
They would date
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Mostly laugh and cringe at the situations she got into
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this book, especially her relationships with
Her old friends and the new ones she made

Liked it, although questioned whether I was the intended audience. Easy read but simplistic. Would read anther book by the author but a LOT of "she said, I said... etc." Narrator was fabulous.

Okay on Paper.
This whole book is a never ending repetition about how poor Waverly Bryson got dumped by her fiance... She whines about it to just about anyone, her Celibrity Client, a woman she meets on a plane, a complete stranger at a party, her publisher. I mean, enough already, we get it!
Overall, the book is not bad. The ending is predictable as expected. A+ Narrator.
I wouldn't waste a credit on it but well worth the the sale price.

Pretty near perfect!
I started this book thinking it would be a quick, fluffy read. It turned out to be too quick as I got to know the characters, I found myself thinking about them even when I wasn't listening.
The author did a great job in both plot and character development. Waverly and her 2 close friends had such a close friendship I was wishing I had that same closeness with some of mine. The humor was excellent and so was the story line. The narrator was wonderful! The only down was the continual "he said", "she said", "I said".
I really enjoyed this book, and, yes, I want to read more in the series.

The narration was good I would have liked to heard a bit more differentiation of the voices in the Waverly Posse.
The storyline was a kick to both read and listen too. It was hoot and a half. So yes a solid thumbs up.

Random
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Probably not, it was entertaining but not something to seek out.
What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Julia was able to add some maturity to the character. The character was somewhat juvenile, the narration helped me like the character more.
If you could rename Perfect on Paper, what would you call it?
Trouble Follows Her
Any additional comments?
The character was just a mess at first, another everything-goes-wrong story. Eventually, I liked the character, and the story became enjoyable. I think there was just too much effort made to make the main character so a mess up front.

Definitely no Bridget Jones
This book tries too hard to be Bridget Jones and sadly misses the mark. The Honey Notes weren’t clever or funny, and the situations Waverly put herself in at times seemed too forced. It wasn’t a terrible read by any means, but unfortunately I’m not interested in pursuing the rest of the series.
