Publisher's summary

"Oh to be as beautiful as Euphemia!" plain Jane Hart sighs when she joins her sister Euphemia at Number 67 Clarges Street for the season. Then Lord Tregarthan might notice her, as she had noticed him and forever lost her heart to the most eligible bachelor of the town. But Euphemia’s fate is to flirt through balls and into the arms of a marquis, while Jane’s is to stay home, amusing herself with snooping into the strange death of Miss Clara Vere-Baxton, a former tenant of Number 67 - until the downstairs staff transforms a plain Miss into the season’s sensation and sends her waltzing dangerously close to the secret of Clara’s demise and into a daring liaison with the lord of her dreams.

Fantastic adventures

Gothic romance, who killed Clara. Mixed with the fun Regency era shenanigans. Great narrator! Old series, but worth a listen.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!

I am so glad this author had one of her novels in the “included” selection in audible. That is how I found her and I am so glad that I did! I’ve listened to three of them so far and have loved them all. Aaaaand, Lindy Nettleton is an AWESOME narrator! Get her books! You’ll love them!

Historical Romance

I started listening to this before I realized it was the second in the series. It was fine as a stand alone, as you quickly get caught up on what you need to know. Good historical romance.

Good as the first!

Enjoyed this as much as the first and hope Audible gets number 3. You can't go wrong with M.C. Beaton. If you like this series you might want to try the Irish Country series by Patrick Taylor.

A scene break would be welcome

I wish the reader would give a pause between scenes. She just plowed through and at times it would be confusing.

Very enjoyable.

Plain Jane, the second book in the house for the season series has another strong heroine and great adventure.
Fall in love with the staff, stay for the story.
