About this listen

Discover Magic, Mystery, and Murder in "Pleating for Mercy"!

When Harlow Jane Cassidy decides to leave her high-stress fashion job in Manhattan to start a dressmaking boutique in her late grandmother’s farmhouse, she expects a quiet, simple life. What she finds is anything but.

In the sleepy town of Bliss, Texas, Harlow doesn’t just inherit her grandmother’s charming house. She also inherits her magical legacy—a legacy that’s tied to a centuries-old family curse and promises that every Cassidy woman has the power to impact her own destiny. But before she can settle into her mystical heritage, Harlow stumbles upon the dead body of a new client.

As the prime suspect in a murder investigation, Harlow must rely on more than her sewing skills to untangle this mystery. With a knack for stitching clues together and a touch of supernatural assistance from Meemaw, Harlow's new life is suddenly sewn with danger and intrigue. But is her magical gift a blessing that will help her find the killer or a curse that will sew her own fate shut?

Embark on a whimsical journey with Harlow as she navigates through cozy romances, family secrets, and the challenge of mending the broken pieces of her new life. "Pleating for Mercy" is a delightful mix of magic, murder, and mayhem—tailor-made for mystery lovers.

Good story, but AI is not the way to go

The story itself was really good. It was very entertaining, but the fact that you’re doing it with virtual speech is absurd. The Voice does not switch from character to character, and it does not switch from male to female, and it can’t pronounce some words correctly, including the title. Also, you call 911 not nine-hundred and eleven. Please just let real people read the books.

Good cozy story

I enjoyed the magical cozy mystery story with its unique characters and crafty charms. I did not enjoy the virtual voice narration. The word “bow” like in the name of the shop “Buttons and Bows” was constantly mispronounced like a dog’s bark - “bow(wow)”. Very annoying.

Cute Story

My dislike; the virtual voice was obvious as there is no inflection on various events. 911 is pronounced nine hundred eleven, etc. My like; the story itself was nice, showing talent and creativity. Love Memaw and her ghostly antics. I might even like to continue the series.
