About this listen

Jane Austen's most popular novel, originally published in 1813, some 17 years after it was first written, presents the Bennet family of Longbourn. Against the background of gossipy Mrs. Bennet and the detached Mr. Bennet, the quest is on for husbands for the five daughters. The spotlight falls on Elizabeth, second eldest, who is courted by Darcy, though initially she is more concerned with the fate of her other sisters.

First Loves Never Die

You ever notice how your first loves stay with you forever? It's true. Love for things as well sa people, you just... always remember. Well, that's my feeling about Pride and Prejudice. It was one of my first loves.
Jane Austin is an engaging writer. The characters draw you in, and you know who they are because they are people in your life somehow.
The story gets into you somehow and it breaths it's own passion.

I'm not sure what else I can say without giving away the plot, except that I highly recommend this book to anyone with a romantic soul.

Pride and Prejudice

Very good reading! I like the different voices done by Ms. Fox, I have never read Pride and Prejudice because of the difficult English wording but in hearing it read, it was much easier listening.

A wonderful book, beautifully read

Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books, so when I decided to get an audiobook of it I compared all the versions to find one that sounded just right. I was a picky customer. Emilia Fox's reading was my favorite. Her voice is pleasant to listen to, she creates distinct voices for each of the main characters, and the pace and cadence of the words is excellent.
After listening to the whole book, I can say with confidence that I made a great choice.

p.s. After listening to the book, I learned that Emelia Fox played the role of Miss Darcy in the BBC version starring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. : )

Great reading of a timeless classic!

It's one of the best novels ever written, and the narrator does justice to both the beautiful prose and the memorable characters!

Emilia Fox presents this wonderful, timeless novel, with tenderness and affection for the idiosyncrasies of each character. Ahh, Mr Darcy......!

Beautifully Done

Very rarely do I find a narrator with whose performance I find no irritation. Perhaps her being so intimately acquainted with the story, having played a role in the ‘95 Miniseries, leant itself to her ability to accurately and seamlessly perform the story. Her inflection was spot on, her voice changes for characters weren’t comically drastic as most narrators use, and she very beautifully laid out the whole of the story.

It was so well read! Better than I hoped and even when the speed was increased it was brilliantly cleverly read! Lovely!

I am like a kid

I'm like a kid, I listen to the story every night... over and over I listen to it, it's soothing and it puts me to sleep. I love the story. This, I believe, is the love story that, at its heart is the basis for every good romance novel or movie. A&E did it best in their mini series of this book. And, the reader of this book was in that mini series playing the young, shy Georgiana Darcy. She clearly draws from that experience and brings the characters to life.

I highly recommend this book!!!
