Popular nutritionist Nora Gedgaudas returns with advice that may sound counterintuitive: eat fat to burn fat. In her new book, Primal Fat Burner, she explains the benefits and science behind a ketogenic diet: It switches your metabolism from running on sugars to running on healthy fats. As Gedgaudas reveals, numerous studies in recent years have refuted the previously promoted anti-saturated fat and anti-cholesterol agenda. Now, Gedgaudas explains, science shows that fat isn't a no-no but rather a yes-yes - as long as you know the right kinds of fats to eat. In addition to explaining the science beyond that logic, Gedgaudas also lays out a practical meal plan with recipes - all of which reveals that following a ketogenic diet will lead to consuming fewer calories overall!

Where does Primal Fat Burner rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
My problem, about 3 hours into the audible book, is that no references have been/are mentioned. I don't expect to hear the references, of which there should be scores if not hundreds, to support all of the numerous statements the author makes as if they are undisputed facts. But, the speaker could mention that references are provided in the book or online. I don't know if references are given. The author goes back to Lucy, the famous hominid of six plus million years ago, to fashion her thesis, with support of ancient paleontological and archeological evidence, but without references. Thus, the listener is jerked from one "scientific" statement to another, all the while waiting for the author to get to the subject of the book (or to the subject that this reader was expecting to find in the book).
The other very irritating feature, so far, in listening to this book is that the speaker mispronounces a few significant words, including the name of important fats. This announces to the listener that the author did not review the work for quality and soundness before it was made available as an audible book. It also lets the listener know that the reader did not prepare to read the book by searching for unfamiliar words and seeking out guidance from the author or, in this case, a scientist familiar with the subjects covered, before recording those passages.
I am still enthused about what might be found in this book regarding a really good Paleo diet, so I will continue to listen. I plan to do this in comparatively short bursts so I don't get too irritated, should the lack of allusion to references (to be found elsewhere) and lack of preparation continue.
