A new Prism has appeared, but the monster waves are coming faster than ever.

Will humanity's hope prove to be too little, too late?

Meanwhile, Aden has too many voices to listen to. This is his life, but it turns out much of what he thought he knew about his past may be false.

Is it really destiny if it has been tinkered with?

He will have to find his place while building his team, training, and facing off against new threats.

the stats get too much involved in a storyline

too many times the story broke with stats. even repetitive stats. I enjoyed the political side of the story, anytime the story started to develop somehow stats would get in the way and slow the story up. That's even slowed down a sex scene.

Prism Academy #2 - Demis

Introduction:
Greetings, fellow beings of HowlStrom. I, Kiba Snowpaw, the Alpha Ice Wolf, have journeyed through the vast landscapes of literature and have come across a tale from another realm, one that resonates with the icy winds and the magic that courses through my veins. As the winter season grips our world, I find solace in the stories of other worlds, and today, I bring forth my thoughts on "Prism Academy #2 - Demis" by David Burke.

Basic Plot Summary:
In this sequel, a new Prism emerges, but the monstrous waves threaten humanity more than ever. Aden, our protagonist, is caught in a whirlwind of voices, challenging his understanding of his past and destiny. As he navigates through the complexities of building a team, training, and confronting new threats, he grapples with the realization that the most terrifying monsters might just be those who wear human skin.

Analysis/Evaluation:
David Burke crafts a world filled with intrigue, power dynamics, and the age-old battle between light and darkness. The narrative is enriched with elements of fantasy, superheroes, science fiction, and adult themes, making it a melting pot of genres that keeps the reader engaged.

Characters:
Aden stands out as a character who is constantly evolving, trying to find his place amidst chaos. His internal struggles, combined with external pressures, make him a relatable figure. The women around him, each with their unique personalities and backgrounds, add depth to the story, highlighting the complexities of relationships in a world teetering on the brink of destruction.

Structure:
The book is structured in a way that allows for character development, world-building, and plot progression to occur simultaneously. While the pacing might seem slow at times, it is essential for setting up the intricate details of the universe Burke has created.

Impact:
"Prism Academy #2 - Demis" delves deep into the human psyche, exploring themes of power, control, destiny, and the gray areas of morality. It serves as a mirror to our society, reflecting the best and worst of humanity.

Hook and Thesis:
The underlying question of whether one's destiny can truly be altered if it has been manipulated is a compelling hook that drives the narrative. It challenges the reader to question the nature of fate and free will.

Praise and Critique:
Burke's world-building is commendable, and his character development is intricate. However, some readers might find certain scenes and character decisions challenging to digest. The exploration of relationships, especially in the context of a harem, might not resonate with everyone, but it adds a layer of complexity to the narrative.

Evaluation:
While the book has its strengths, especially in its detailed world-building and character dynamics, it also has areas that might polarize readers. The balance between action and introspection, coupled with the exploration of mature themes, makes it a read suited for a mature audience.

Comparison:
Compared to its predecessor, "Prism Academy #2 - Demis" delves deeper into the psyche of its characters, offering a more introspective look at their motivations and challenges. While the first book set the stage, this sequel raises the stakes, pushing the narrative into darker territories.

Conclusion:
In the icy realms of HowlStrom, where magic and might reign supreme, stories like "Prism Academy #2 - Demis" serve as a reminder of the complexities of the human spirit. David Burke's tale is a roller-coaster of emotions, challenging perceptions and pushing boundaries. As the Alpha Ice Wolf, I appreciate tales that make one reflect, and this book does just that. May the icy winds of HowlStrom guide you on your literary journeys.

Excellent read & fantastic LitRPG supers adventure

Demis of the Prism Academy series by David Burke, is an excellent read as with everything David writes. This is a fantastic LitRPG supers adventure with great characters, an engaging world, and of course some fun times, I look forward to the next book in the series! Audio Version: Jonathan Waters and Maeve York, as always, do an excellent job with the overall narration and each of their characters.

I love this series!!!

Man… Wow! What a ride so far! This one really hits you in the “feels!” We see Aden go through several changes in this book. It is light sometimes and heavy at other times.
Aden really begins the process of becoming a leader for when his team “officially” goes active in the war against the shadow.

This book sees what I have to assume is the climatic event with the Academy and the Board. Hopefully… going forward we will see more of the outside world, which would be awesome!

For the ladies… Burke keeps getting better at deeper developments of the ladies in the MC’s life. I got my victory with Demis, as the name of the book indicates, becoming a part of the main group’s lives. Aden stepped up big here.
I like the banter between the ladies, as most probably do, but I also enjoy the “real” and “deeper” interactions between the Bonds that are sometimes full of friction while things go smoothly at other times.

The overall story continues to get better. I enjoy the lessons at the Academy and if I could have one change, it would be more time in classes and learning. But… at the same time… the experiences Aden and his Bonds have outside the classroom are more practical and work with the story. So I won’t take call it a bad thing.

Powers and abilities… man, our MC is stacked! Burke does a phenomenal job with the powers/abilities, levels and stats! It’s probably one of the, if not THE, best litrpg superhero system I have seen!

Now, for the audio, it was also great! Jonathan Waters is quickly becoming one of my favorites. The emotion, sounds and tone he brings to the reading, really breaths life into the character and the narrative as a whole! Then you got Maeve York who adds the spark, and SPICE, to the female characters! I love how she did the accents for Demis, Sybilla, Queenie and especially the draw of Valkyrie!
But she also adds life to the two “teases” with Demis and Aqueous! Though there are others as well through out that I can think of off the top of my head.

Really looking forward to the next!

compromised Mc

The world is great, the story interesting. most of the characters are perfect. full disclosure I'm writing this after a point of the book that disappointed me greatly as it feels the mc did something not in character. ignoring his conviction for love and caring for someone. and bonding with someone evil.

spoiler warning.

his bonding Queenie just felt gross. I hate when authors give options for a harem and drop great characters for worse ones. it's why I stopped reading Bruce's books it might be my nail in the coffin for this series. A real shame. the only thing that could fix this his her dying. She is a cardi b level character the kinda force that starts with r. she hadn't done it to the mc, but I hate her.
I may change this review if I ever come back to the book after what I feel is a breaking of the mc as I don't feel it's in character to do what he did.
the near end of the book helps a bit but doesn't change my complaints

Also the VA for the females that are Spanish sound Canadian instead. makes it goofy over sexy.

just amazing

I love how David can make overpowered protagonists seem great. our mc has ALOT of power and skills but political power is a beast he can't deal alone.
filled with even pore intrigue.
can't wait for the rest of the series

This is such a fantastic series!

it's easily the best series of books I've listened to in quite some time. I just feel like the character development for this series in the LITRpg genre is far and away better than any other series I've heard. I absolutely love the story arc of Demis, she has to be my favorite character out of these books. I can't wait to hear the rest of the series.
