About this listen

Sami Ford has it all: looks, money, happiness. Her life is perfect. But only if one doesn't look too closely.

Matt Brimley is a sports god. Hockey fans adore him. Girls everywhere want to worship at his skates. He's living the dream. If the dream involved everyone expecting you to be nothing but a jock.

These two rich kids could be the perfect couple. If he didn't think she was a spoiled princess, and she didn't think he was a dumb puck, they might be.

But hating someone doesn't mean you can't want them.

Sammy is a total brat

She is childish, rude, and mean. I cannot finish the story even though the narrators were fantastic.

Unfinished......Needs closure

I was getting tired of the games and at the beginng liked both characters seeing the situation from both sides. Then getting to know Sami, felt for her, hoping Matt would actually see her and be there. But he was a dog, no self-control....
The end was left open - Sami left cold, sad....even the next book doesn't close her story, leaves her even more sad....that was disappointing.

However, Sami's limo speach/monologue was great- something Matt should have reminded himself of everyday after

No closure/sudden ending and too much mind-gaming

Overall it was fine, but I’m glad I chose to listen instead of physically read (probably would have DNF’d in that case). Yes, the MMC is an idiot for most of the book but both main characters act like they’re in middle school for parts with the amount of mind games and talking to their friends but not each other. Also, the ending seemed really random and gives no closure as to what actually happens with them. Apparently they’re mentioned or we see them in book 2, so that might have been intentional by the author (to get people to read book 2), but I’ve seen interconnected but still standalone hockey series be able to give closure on each book’s couple even if they’re brought up in later books.

Disappointing

Unfortunately, this book wasn’t really what I was expecting. They spent the vast majority of the book basically at each others throats &/or playing games with each other. Matt is a complete MORON for 98% of the book, which is super frustrating. Sammy isn’t perfect by any means, but Matt is just so.clueless it’s painful.

I found the ending to be incomplete, highly unfulfilling, and left with too many loose ends for my taste. It really ruined the book for me in a lot of ways & left a bitter taste in my mouth. 👄 mean, it wasn’t a sad ending or anything—just really anticlimactic & dumb.

So this is one of those books that I absolutely despise the characters, but I am so completely invested in this story that I have to keep going.

Sami is the princess of the NYC billionaires, always in the society pages & often not for great reasons.

Matt’s family hates that he wants to play hockey, instead he should be a part of the family company.

Both these two have issues, and honestly they are a hot mess together, but I am so invested in this one. I need to know what happens next because this one isn’t a stand alone like I thought going in, nope, it is an odd duet, with a second couple book in between/included in the trilogy.

Good story

I can’t believe how many reviews condemn Sami. Are you kidding? Matt is an absolute trash bag. He’s uncouth and has zero emotional intelligence. He just bumbles around like an idiot and the stuff with the PF almost made me puke. The absolute worst. I can’t imagine how he will be redeemed but I want to find out.

The name of the story.

I really disliked how he thought he could do what he wants & he basically did. The ending was left unfinished.

Solid book

Glad this wasn’t as predictable as most books like it, some books in this genre tend to all be the same and can be very predictable.
