About this listen

A girl suddenly vanishes from her world and finds herself drifting in and out of consciousness in a world of pure darkness. The only insight into her precarious situation is a prompt opening before her eyes indicating that the system failed to delete her.

The doggedly optimistic and naive teenager, Naomi, is reborn as a monster into a fantastical world governed by the rigid rules of a suspiciously game-like system; a world full of magic and danger where the familiar mingles with the inexplicable. She finds herself deep in the bizzarre, savage forests of the unclaimed lands where deadly monsters prowl in the shadows just out of sight.

After a close brush with death, any hope that this could be a lighthearted adventure evaporates as she feels real pain for the first time. The realization sinks in as Naomi comes to terms with this not being just a game; it’s her reality now.

As if coming to grips with the life or death survival situation she finds herself in isn’t enough, the description of one of her skills seems to be speaking to her....

New addition to my top five litRPGs to recommend.

I am excited to see the queen in future installments. I love the non human MC. It's not done very often. Tho she is the queen she is still relatable.

unique perspective world

I really enjoyed this book. While the core concept is not 100% unique ( if I gave details it would be a spoiler ) the perspective of the main character as a large newt is. I enjoyed the simplicity of the fantasy world designed within and found myself daydreaming about playing the sort of game with natural development described therein. The story is absolutely charming. The narrator was also fantasticly clear and easy to listen too. I only choose 4 star for performance as it was some times hard to differentiate one character from another if I had not been paying attention when their name was announced

Solid title

Strong story, good characters. A little heavy on character sheet / skill description reading, but not too bad. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

The narrator occasionally stumbles on words, and mispronounces words (eg chitin), but otherwise does a great job.

Got me wanting more!

So I started this book not really expecting anything. I listened to and read multiple reincarnation/world-hopping books and this might be no different. However, as I started listening to it I couldn't put it down. I loved how they slowly started to reveal some hidden truths and not just dropped everything on you in very short order. I didn't even know I hit the last chapter till I hit the credits that was how I knew this was a good book. This book has me wanting more of this series of our little Queen in the Mud.

Awesome!

It's been a while since I've been excited about a series, and this one is a great start. It has an enchanting feel and just a nice and refreshing addition in a very stale genre.

dont let the cute cover fool you.

better then expected.

this was a really well written story and loved how things tied in. i wont say to much about the story because i dont want to ruin anything but if you like ligrpg you will like this one. its not to heavy on the stats and the story mostly light hearted, the action is good.

i hope there is more to this story.

narration is done well. i like the voices that larissa did.

this was my first book by both maari and larissa thompson, neither disappointed.

lovely isekai game lit

i holded of getting this book for a few days. im glad i gave this one a try in the end.
there was a few minor flaws in the narration but overall a good preformance first parts of the book had some noticable intakes of breaths in between lines but seamed to get sorted out. every now and again there would be an line that if read with a delivery could give it a little more impact, despite some minor flaws it was a good preformance and i hope to hear more of her in the future. i will be waiting for the next one.

*minor spoilers*
its a lovely game-lit story with a good foundation, building into a good action adventure with town/city building in the next book
id love to see where it will progress onward. and i love some of the truelly "alien" beasts and races of this book so far.

Interesting story approach

This was the first LitRPG story that had a human change into an animal like character. I liked the time travel, and the family. I hope to hear more from this series. I liked it so much that I want to read it with the book next time.

Good story, little soft

The story framework itself is excellent, but the implementation makes me think everyone is singing Kum Ba Yah, even the sentient enemies. The conflict just isn't there, which makes the characters feel flat and lack development or challenge. You are the best, everyone loves you, everything you do is perfect, because reasons.
