About this listen

It's not easy being a house that eats people.

Zaria was just a normal woman, living a simple life—until demons burst through her door and ate her heart. Reborn from tragedy, Zaria rises from the ashes as a Core, but with a twist. A rare mutation has turned her into a Mutant Core, destined to explode unless she forms a bond with a human witch to become a Striga.

Her mutation? Legs.

With the power of a full dungeon compressed into a walking house that is her body, Zaria sets out on a journey to find her Striga and avoid detonation. Along the way, she battles demons, builds her dungeon, and feeds her mimic mobs.

This is not the life she once knew, but it's the one she's determined to make work, no matter who she has to walk through to get there.

I loved this book. I gave it a shot because of the dinosaur dungeon series but this one is even better.

Unique to the genre

The Dungeon That Walks Like a Man

The last moments of Zaria’s life were terrifying as a demon that burst through her door stalked her and ate her heart. Death was not the end though. Zaria was reborn as an unstable mutant dungeon core. Her mutation is that her house is her dungeon and the dungeon has giant chicken legs. She chooses mimics as her monster type, so everything in the house could be a monster. She must bond with a witch to stabilize her core. That and there are demons to hunt!

This is a really fun take on the dungeon core genre. Zaria is able to pick up after a dungeon run and walk over to the next location and even join in on the fight. I love the way the author incorporates Isekai into the story. This seems to be a stand alone book, but is tied into the CoreVerse of the author’s other series. Sierra Kline does a great job as the narrator!

This is the beginning of a promising series the author needs to expand there a building as a storyteller what other than that it has good potential with great structure it's just keep in mind the threads need to be tighter In some places I'll load over the place and the fights can be just a little too worthy at Times but it shows such great promise and it's an interesting story I just wish that if they're going to use this sort of folklore that they had set in a Yugoslavian country

This is the beginning of a promising series

What an amazing tale to stumble upon. From the character development to uncertain doom. This author does an amazing job guiding you through this adventure. If your on the fence give book one a try!

I really tried but narrator just ruins it for me. Narrator, when a character is literally "screaming in agony" why do you whisper? Narrator, when the action scenes start and monsters rage, why do you get so quiet I can't tell whats happening?? Narrator, why do you read the whole book like it's a porno??? The only voices that are clear and understandable are when individual characters speak or when the voice of the system appears. The main narrating voice is way too quiet and no one wants to hear a barely audible voice describing a "scene of chaos and blood" like you're describing last night's intimate encounter. Stop ruining litrpg books like that.

Narrator should stick to adult romance

It was an interesting story. The voice acting we good and helped to get immersed in the story.

Nice

A good story on its own, until it started getting tangled with the overarching Core Verse plot. I enjoyed the other series, but piecing the three together is difficult. Most of the resolution involving the common thread character made little sense. Granted, I have only listened to the first Factory of the Gods installment (as that’s the only one on Audible), but even with the three Dinosaur Dungeon installments under my belt this one was out there at the end. Maybe there’s an issue with the studios, but releasing the titles in “core universe chronological order” could help.

Good book, Big Universe

Alex and the Coreverse are quickly becoming the leading power in the LitRPG genre, and they've already blown all other dungeon core stories out of the water. Sierra Kline isn't the most gifted narrator, but she does grow on you quickly, and brings a unique air to the System notifications. Highly recommended for all fans of the genre!

I've liked Mimics since a friend invited me to a D&D session around 35 yrs ago. This story came up with so many fun and amazing ways that the sentient Dungeon, Zaria, used them in her 'life' of leveling up, defeating bad guys and demons, and protecting friends she met along the way. it is a well paced story and the voice actor brings a depth to the characters by the various tones she employs to differentiate individuals and their (often sarcastic) speech. Honestly it's now one of my favorite titles that I've listened to on Audible. My only gripe is that the epilogue through out a ton of weird information at the end that didn't make much sense, but hopefully it will be explained better when Book 2 comes out. I can hardly wait to hear how their adventures continue!

Mimics, Mimics and more Mimics!
