About this listen

Lydia De Havilland is shocked when Brogan Ramsay suddenly reappears in her life. Several years before, Brogan was the son of her family's gardener, and the boy she hurt and betrayed. But Brogan is no longer the quiet, sensitive boy she remembers. Now he's a man - gorgeous, powerful, and seeking vengeance.

Brogan Ramsay can't let go of the memory of Lydia tricking him cruelly, leaving his heart shattered and his family penniless. And now he's back to destroy her family the way his was destroyed. There's only one problem: The girl who wounded him so badly years ago is now a woman who still has the power to render him breathless.

Ramsay is a story of betrayal and wrath, of the strength of regret and the power of forgiveness. It is the story of the thin veil between love and hate and how more often than not, when we seek to inflict pain on others, the heart we wound is our own.

Love this series...

... and this one didn't disappoint. Would've been 5 stars, but I felt Aaron's voice doesn't sound like a teen or a young man (maybe it was the accent making it sound too mature?). His flow & inflection was also kinda off sometimes, but Michelle was on point, perfect for Lydia!!
Love how Mia tells her stories & I've read enough of her books now that I think that if I didn't know she wrote a book I was reading I would figure out it was her. I recommend all the books I've read so far, and am going to keep going until I'm finished. I have about 8 or 9 left. So far my favorites are (in no order) Stinger, Archers Voice, Eden & Calder, Whisper Collector, Preston's Vow and Kyland, but all her books are 5 star as far as I'm concerned and I've read about 500+ romance novels over that last few years. Mia will not disappoint.

A TURBULENT TOUCHING TALE OF LOVE & SECOND CHANCES

Brogan Ramsay was a handsome Irish lad who worked with his Father in the gardens of a rich man's estate and that's where so many firsts happened.. his first love, his first kiss, his first sexual experience.. and the first time his heart was broken. As a naive besotted teenager Lydia hatched a foolish plan to entice the boy she loved.. but the plan backfired on her and it brought devastation in its wake. It destroyed Brogan, destroyed a sweet friendship, destroyed a family and made an enemy who would wait in the shadows while he plotted his revenge.

Seven years later Lydia and her no good brother are struggling to keep their family's house and late Father's business afloat - but her addict of a brother recklessly lost it all in a game of cards.. a game that the now grown up wealthy Brogan knew he was going to win. However, it wasn't enough for Brogan to just take over the de Havilland family business - no, he was going to make Lydia suffer too.. but Brogan began to realized that his need for revenge was hurting an innocent Lydia - but it was hurting him more. His hatred had masked his true feelings - feelings that were rekindled while he watched and got closer to Lydia.. but an emotional rollercoaster was about to be unleashed and Lydia and Brogan would feel more betrayal, anguish, heartache and pain at the hands of others.

This was a riveting dual POV second-chance love story about mistakes, broken dreams, betrayal, regrets, revenge, misunderstandings and the healing power of forgiveness and love. Lydia was a likeable Heroine who had made a naive mistake years previously and was now paying very dearly for that mistake at the hands of a handsome Gaelic speaking Irishman whose loveable, sexy and tender character made him a swoon-worthy Hero. Mia Sheridan has spun a heart-wrenching captivating love story that tells of drama, angst, cruelty, secrets, lies, bitter regrets, heat, forgiveness, sex, treachery, heart and a lot lot more.. and then she finished the story off with a touching Epilogue that'll warm your heart. However, IMO, this lost a star because of the mismatched narration - Charlotte Wright (not a listed) sounded a wee bit too young and Aaron Abano sounded a touch too old.. but they did give it their best.

Worth a credit? It wasn't my favorite from a series that's been perfectly penned by one of my favorite Authors.. however, IMO, it's still very creditworthy.

Brogan and Lydia!

Second chances at love is one of my favorite genres. Mia Sheridan writes Brogan and Lydia's story for us with their second chance at happiness. Lydia and Brogan had one night together, and then were pulled apart. Circumstances beyond Brogan's control led him to a life of struggle to keep his family supported, and now successful is on his way to revenge. When he finally begins to set his plan in place and he sees Lydia, everything changes. There are times in the story, I would have liked a little more history between the Lydia and Brogan to see what their connection as young adults was that brought them together. For me it would have made the story more cohesive. I loved Brogan, but at times was very frustrated with Lydia. Sheridan does write beautifully, the second chance, the broken dreams and the culmination of finding the happily ever after. With Aaron Abano's swooney Irish accent and use of Irish slang, Brogan is brought to life. He is a character hard not to love. Michelle Ferguson gives voice to Lydia making her the frustrating person she can be. Enjoy the Irish lilt and emotional sound Mia Sheridan writes in this Sign of Love Novel.

Revenge is not always swet

Some families can be very opinionated and, at times, interfering when one of their loved ones introduces their new 'significant other' to them all. Sometimes it can have a huge influence, possibly even bringing an early end to the relationship. Of course, it is always meant with the best interests at heart right...... well you would like to think so but this was not the case for Lydia and Brogan.

Brogan was the son of the gardener on Lydia's family estate when she was growing up. His family originated from Ireland and pretty much live day to day, grateful to have jobs and to be living in America. Lydia and Brogan become friends and as they grow into teenagers, there is an attraction growing too. When Lydia's older brother finds them in a compromising position one afternoon, he is absolutely livid and kicks Brogan & his family off the estate.

Despite searching for Brogan for months, Lydia never sees him again until several years later. The tables have now completely turned. After living a destitute life, getting by on whatever he could, Brogan is now a wealthy successful business man. A man that Lydia now seeks help from. However, she had no idea that the version of Brogan that stands before her now is nothing like the one she remembers.

Brogan is filled with the desire to seek revenge on Lydia and her brother, he will not stopped until they are ruined, with feelings of helplessness like he had when he left their estate. However, revenge is not always sweet. Lydia reveals some things to Brogan that he had no idea about, secrets and truths that completely blind side him. It is also really sad too, that Brogan and Lydia could have been together and happy if not for someone with their own agenda for her life.

This is a beautiful story about love and forgiveness. Most of all, a lesson in seeking revenge - you can't fix the problems of the past by breaking someone else. I especially enjoyed the Irish accented male narrator, when he spoke it was like sitting beside the fire and listening to a bed time story :)

Ooh aries ❤ and lovin Aaron's Irish accent. Only heard him do an Australian accent before.
Love this! Love everything about it! Hot angsty revenge slow burn pining romance ❤ and sadness worthy of a depressing Irish song. Oh the drama! Mmm, and both narrators can speak Gaelic to me any time. 🥰

Fantastic story & Performance

I loved this book and it’s narrator’s. The author Always does an excellent job with her books. This story addressed so many issues that can block love and rob a couple the joy of sharing it. Lies, misunderstanding,
jealousy and cruelty of others can take away their trust. Mia Sheridan does a superb job with telling a love story that brings tears to my eyes!

Interesting and Intriguing

Lydia and Ramsay's families have history - some good, but mostly bad. So bad that revenge drives Ramsay to seek out and destroy Lydia'sonly remaining family. But fate and the deep underlying feeling of love puts a kink on his plans.
This story line was really intriguing. The plot was thoroughly developed. The scenes and event flowed together really well.
I listened to the audiobook and found the narrators interesting. At first, the heavy accent Aaron Abano used threw me off but really set the tone of the character. Michelle Ferguson did a great job of narrating Lydia's POV.
