Publisher's summary

Taken by the Jakhua Clan as a teen, 194 was stripped of his name, identity, and free will, meticulously honed to be a ruthless killing machine. This is a role he resents with every fiber of his being but one he embraces to gain back the precious leverage the Georgians wield as their weapon of control: his younger sister, 152.

Zoya Kostava is in shock. After fleeing her mafia family's massacre in Georgia as a child, Zoya lives in secret, hiding from her enemies in Manhattan. At age 25, believing all her family is dead, Zoya learns that her brother, Zaal, is very much alive...and living with their family's greatest enemy: the Volkov Bratva.

Yearning to be reunited with her beloved Zaal, Zoya risks her safety and anonymity for the brother she had mourned since childhood. But just as she reaches Zaal's apartment, Zoya is seized and taken captive by a strange man, who is strong, dark, and brutal. Unyielding, he demands her utter obedience as he locks her away in darkness. He is highly skilled in torture and inflicting pain and demands to know everything about her and her brother. He is a man who will do anything to get what he wants.

Contains mature themes.

Heartbreaking yet enjoyable

This may be my favorite heroine. Goya was relatable and never gave up hope. Oh Valentin@@ His story was among one of the worst, esp the snippets of his sister. Was so glad Mistress was dealt with. and I'm awaiting Master's demise. Happy to get POVs of previous characters. esp Luka's

Two Souls Coming Together

This is the story about Zoya and 194 aka Valentin. This book picks up right where Reap let's off. We all know that Zaal has a thought for so long that he is his only surviving family member however Zoya, who has been in hiding since she was 5 is the family member that make him complete. We get to see Zola and her determination to be with her brother. No matter what torture that she goes through she understands that she would rather die then to have her brother suffer because of her.

Valentin has tried so hard to protect his little sister but it just seems to be out of his reach. He has killed repeatedly but also has seen his sister suffer. Valentin is a broken man who does not seem to care about himself. He would rather have his sister somewhat whole and happy versus him being happy.

This book is about determination and heartache. We see two people who has been through so much in their lives and has been alone through most of their lives fall in love. This book is by no means pretty. This book contains rape and torture and people who are mentally unstable. This book is strictly a dark romance novel. Yes there is love and forgiveness and acceptance however it is a long journey before any of that actually occurs.

I am really happy that Zoya and Zoe finally got their reunion however Valentin feels guilt for being happy. When Tillie Cole showed us 152 aka Anessa being brutalized and used I almost lost it. This book in the series is not anything that someone who cannot stomach the darkness that is the human world should read. There were so many moments got this book where I just wanted to cry for not only Valentin but Zaal and Zoya and Anessa.

I know the next book in the series might be the most heartbreaking one of all. It is Anessa's book, Riot, and I really hope that we do not get to see all of the misdeeds that were done to her. I don't think that I will be able to handle her getting brutalized constantly throughout the entire book. But in order to complete the series I will and if I have to cry from the very first chapter to the very last I will and have no shame.

So good! 😢 Poor 194 and 152!! 😭 It's hard to hate someone when you know their sad existence. Stockholm and lima syndrome at its hottest! Loved this!

Not quit as dark as the last one.. but dark

Another great story in this series...everything leading to the grand finale with fixed HEA's for all these great couples. A little nervous for the last book because I think Inessa aka 152 and 901's story will be the darkest yet. Mind the TW's.

Valentin and Zoya

A heart pounding, adrenaline fueled, intense, dark and raw journey to go on with 194/Valentin and Zoya. I was pulled in from the beginning, held captivated and left breathless in the end. Wow, what a story!
Narration was fantastic!

It just keeps getting better!!!

Valentine is officially amongst my favorites. Idk who is first lol it’s between Luca and Valentine though for sure. Valentine and Zoyas love is so strong and pure. I love the chapter towards the end where he speaks up about what he did to her whether drugged or not. He was so strong and fierce and accountable for his own actions. I love his soul so much. Great work!!!!

Can't get enough of this series

Seems like every new edition to the scarred souls series offers more depth and backstory to Tillie Cole's dark bratva world. It was nice to get to know Zoya and Valentin. Just like my reviews for the other books in this series, I'm going to mention that this is very dark. I loved the story but it seems like their love started with Stockholm syndrome. Trigger warning for torture, sexual assault, rape, mutilation and murder.

The series gets better with each book

I know this isn't a conventional storyline for those who enjoy romance. It is very violent, more than other mafia novels that I have read. I guess I like the fact that it is more realistic. Yes, there is a romance that brings out the hearts of the heros, of this story. Unlike other such novels, it does not try convince the reader that a women's loves has made these men make a 180 degree turn; that's just not human nature. Instead, these characters redirect their violent natures towards goals that inhance the greater good, of their world. Learning to understand these characters can give the reader a real insight into PSTD and the struggles that sufferers have. In this paticular time, in our world, this is a type of understanding that we all need. My advice, when reading /listening to this series, is to focus on the underlying message.

Tillie Cole does it again!

Dark and disturbing which is synonymous with Tillie Cole’s Scarred Souls series! I liked this one but not as much as I loved the previous two books. I can’t wait to read the final book!
