Publisher's summary

[I was reincarnated in a fantasy world as the manifestation of absolute void—the Black Knight—and my goal is to return the destitute, sickly, youngest-born princess, who is kind of a loser, to her throne because it beats doing nothing.]

War rages across the continent as a foreign power sets foot on the soil of the nation beneath the glow of strange starlight. Emptiness fills the eyes of people everywhere as their faces become as hard as the loveless hearts hidden beneath them. Those who are not involved in the war effort can only do their best to survive on the fringes for the time being.

One of these people is the exiled, youngest princess of the nation, the ill Acacia Odofredus Krone, who lives forgotten in destitute squalor as an abject failure, not even capable enough to become a low-ranking adventurer. An equally lost soul, reborn from another world, suddenly finds himself reincarnated at her side as the powerful manifestation of a creature of old prophecy: der Schwarze Ritter—the Black Knight.

Together, faced with the pressures of the horrific conflict, dire poverty, Acacia's fatal sickness, and the looming threat of her noble bloodline that hasn't been forgotten by the world hanging heavy over them, the two of them are forced onto a journey to find a way to live together, fighting their way out from the lowest shadows of forgottenhood in order to reach the pinnacle of either of their dreams—a life that feels like anything more than total emptiness.

Can this desperate quest be anything other than doomed to failure? Find out in this latest novel by trending LitRPG and fantasy author D.M. Rhodes!

Genuinely amazinv

I was surprised, assuming that this was another textbook isekqi with an op main character but the depth and the emotion, the intelligence and the drama displayed has made this to be one of my new favorites and certainly my new favorite of this genre. I finished it and immediately began searching for more

Better than i thought

I went into this book, thinking it was just another anime like story, lighthearted and fun, but no, this story had substance to it. It was engaging and made me feel something for the characters something more than zero.

Cute Story

I enjoyed three things about the book the most.

1) Realistic characters and thoughts
2) Interesting style of writing
3) Female characters that won't have back problems...

Loved It

In the middle of a genre flooded by talentless twelve year olds, out springs this book from the void. Seriously though, this was quite good in pretty much all respects. I especially liked the idea of two nobodies joining together to be something. I also appreciated that, just like real life, the cast wasn't black or white, good or bad. There was a little of both in everyone and often it was only a matter of perspective as to how the reader viewed them. While this book could almost stand on its own, it is obviously open to having many sequels, and I'll be waiting impatiently for them to be released.

Originality

It has an originality to it that’s different from reincarnation stories I’ve listen too. Hope to listen to more in the series

Another hit from one of my favorite authors!

An excellent story with characters that you really grow attached to. I ended up binging the whole thing in a couple days and can't wait for the next one!

tooo much detail, has promised

ok, premise is solid but execution is not great. I've never felt the need to skip so much in a book before. Way too much detail. what could be covered in a couple pages is an entire chapter. If you love detail this is for you. I just couldn't get past half way mark.
