It’s not always easy to tell when you’re dealing with a narcissist. One day they draw you in with their confidence and charisma, the next they gaslight you, wreck your self-confidence, and leave you wondering, What could I have done differently? As Dr. Ramani Durvasula reveals in It's Not You, the answer is: absolutely nothing. Just as a tiger can’t change its stripes, a narcissist won’t stop manipulating and invalidating you. To heal in the aftermath of their abuse and protect yourself from future harm, you first have to accept that you are not to blame.

When somebody wanted something from her—even a stranger—she gave it, no matter how uncomfortable, exhausted, or resentful she felt inside. People-pleasing, she learned, was a coping mechanism that had kept her physically and emotionally safe in the past, but wreaked havoc on her life in the present—and she was committed to breaking the pattern once and for all.

Grief isn't always the result of something finite, marking a death or complete end. Soul-shattering grief can also be activated by a dramatic shift in an important relationship, such as a divorce or significant breakup, a life-changing medical diagnosis, or a broken connection with an addicted child. How do we grieve people who are still alive, but no longer who they once were to us? Most people will experience this type of traumatic event over the course of their lifetime, yet the complications of these situations often leave grievers feeling alienated or ashamed.

Anyone who feels validated by exploiting your hunger for theirs is toxic - to your peace, your life, and your mental health.

Discover the tools to identify healthy and toxic behaviours in all areas of life and separate the red flags from the green, from TikTok psychologist Dr Ali Fenwick @moderndaypsychologist
In an increasingly fast-paced world, equally fast decision-making skills are seen as a strength. When we are constantly presented with so many options to choose from, a quick and dirty decision doesn't always seem like a bad thing.
When it comes to things we don't like in friends, family, work, or relationships we are often fast to judge and label them as red flags.
What we don't realise, however, is that this mindset is causing us to lose our ability to manage difficult situations. Decisions taken in the heat of the moment can also prevent us from achieving a greater understanding of ourselves.
Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Innovation Dr Ali Fenwick is here to guide you through critical life situations, providing you with the knowledge to unpack the psychology behind each one and ultimately make the best and healthiest decisions about dating, relationships, friends, family, work, wellbeing, and success.
Red Flags, Green Flags is here to help you break this cycle of unhealthy behaviour by equipping you with the tools to identify the good and the bad signs in your life, show you what these signals say about people and, more importantly, what they say about you.

They are the stuff of gossip, of novels and of classic dramas; secrets form a major part of our hidden inner lives. Podcaster Andrew Gold knows this better than anyone. A public persona, he found himself the (unwitting) recipient of hundreds of strangers' most private revelations. This set him on a journey to understand this critical part of our societies and lives. Why do we keep secrets? Why are we fascinated by those of others? What happens to our mind when we confess?

Our lives are filled with repetitive tasks meant to keep us on track—what we come to know as habits. Over time, these routines (like brushing your teeth or putting on your right sock first) tend to be performed automatically. But when we’re more mindful about these actions—when we focus on the precise way they are performed—they can instead become rituals. Shifting from a “habitual” mindset to a “ritual” mindset can convert ordinary acts from black and white to technicolor.
