About this listen

When famine visits Bethlehem, Boaz holds out hope for rain while his relative Elimelech moves his wife, Naomi, and their sons to Moab. For a while it appears the Lord is blessing Elimelech's family, and his sons marry two lovely Moabite women. But calamities strike one after another, leaving Naomi alone in a foreign land with only her childless daughters-in-law for comfort. When news reaches Naomi that the famine in Bethlehem has lifted, only Ruth will hazard the journey to her mother-in-law's homeland. Destitute and downhearted, Naomi resigns herself to a life of bitter poverty, but Ruth holds out hope for a better future. And Boaz may be the one God has chosen to provide it.

Combining meticulous research with her endless imagination, Jill Eileen Smith gorgeously renders one of the most beautiful stories in Scripture. Listeners will adore this third installment of the inspiring Daughters of the Promised Land series.

Captivating story, hated to put it down

Another wonderful story by Jill Eileen Smith and a beautiful ending. I felt the narrator did a great job, kept my attention which is hard to do.

The descriptions of love and tenderness between boaz and his first wife and then ruth were very touching

The first part when they were in the land of moab seemed to drag a bit.But was much better when they returned to bethlehem.

loved it.

I have always loved the story of Ruth and Boaz in the Bible. Reading this book helped me to understand more of the customs during the time and what the possible day to day life could have been like for Ruth. I enjoyed the vocal performance. I hope to listen to more books by Jill Eileen Smith in the future.

Love It

I enjoyed this book because it was very close to the original story as written in the Book of Ruth.
The writer's account reflected filled a great deal of knowledge of the Hebrew culture and ancient history.

This book is my favorite so far in this series. Love the strong, amazing females and their stories. Very inspiring for women, and for faith.

Fictional account of Ruth

The Book of Ruth has always been a favorite book and Ruth a favorite character. This depiction of Ruth is not exactly what I expected, but it is quite plausible, I was disappointed, though, that Ruth didn’t say her famous speech to Naomi,

Good back story to well known characters.

Really enjoyed this audiobook, especially that it didn’t have graphic violence (which can be a bit much in some of these biblical novels). The back story helped bring the familiar Bible characters to life.
