About this listen

An unexpected collaboration between two authors that's hot enough to spark a fire...

Chase

After an excruciating loss, I’m desperate for a fresh start.
Away from the painful memories.
Away from everyone I know and anyone who knows my story.
That’s how I end up in Eagle’s Landing, Pennsylvania.
As a best-selling author, my main reason for moving to a remote mountain cabin is to overcome the writer’s block that's crushed my creativity for the past two years. My hope is to rediscover my words in the quiet, small town where no one knows me. Or my past.
A place where I can blend in enough that I become invisible.

Rett

Even though Chase--one of my favorite authors--insists he wants to be left alone, I refuse to let him wallow in whatever’s drowning him.
As a local bookstore owner and author myself, I’m intrigued by the man who’s a master of the written word. Unfortunately, his social skills could use a lot of work.
Even so, I’m determined to pull the irritable and frustrating man out of the dark pit he’s fallen into and back to the surface no matter how hard he fights it. I only hope dragging Chase down that fiery path just might reignite his spark and that I don't get burned in the process.

Note: Reigniting Chase is a slow-burn, emotional romance that deals with love after loss. Please check the content warning on my website before purchasing: jeannestjames.com/reignitingchase. Or it can be found at the beginning of the ebook (accessible by Amazon’s “look inside” feature or by downloading the ebook sample). This standalone gay romance has a guaranteed HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhangers.

Tissues needed

Grumpy (Emotional trauma hero) - sunshine (a hero who won't give up trying to be friends with other H)
Chase just wants to be left alone and not fall in love again. Rett is drawn to Chase. They are great together discovering everything they have in common.

Wow. I don't usually tear up but this one got to me. Loved it.
Dogs in books are the best <3

second read w/ audio - not as strong of emotions (no tears) this time. Some parts seemed a bit wordy.

I really enjoyed the narration/narrators.

Amazing Story

Where to start. Its my first audio book, i picked it up because I left the other book i was reading at my boyfriend’s and picked this up in the mean time.
The story was great i felt for Chase’s loss, and related so much to fester in your misery. Rett was so nice and loving, everyone deserves someone like him. That doesn’t give up on you because deep down you worth shines through. Both characters had me intrigued and glue to the story. Although im sad it’s over im happy i read it, and if you like romance you should too.

Excellent writing

This story was amazing! The writing was perfect!
Chase was very much inside himself after the lose of his husband. He had no desire to have any personal relationships.
Until a funny and handsome man wouldn’t give up on him❤️❤️❤️

Bellissimo

Storia meravigliosa, personaggi stupendi, sarebbe bello conoscere persone così e averle come amici.
Recitativo meraviglioso, interpretati entrambi i personaggi in maniera sublime.

Get ready for all the feels!

Jeanne St James shows her versatility with this phenomenally written love story. Chase has lost his husband and cannot seem to get on with his life. Packing up and moving to a remote cabin sounds like the answer. There he can be alone, wallow in his grief and hopefully write his next book. Meeting Rett was not part of his plan. Rett owns the local bookstore and he can see Chase for who he is. Breaking through his walls has become his mission. But are they impenetrable? St James writes a slow burning love story, dealing with incredible guilt and grief. I become completely immersed in their world, all the little details, the patience of a true friend, the small town feel and the building of love and trust between Chase and Rett. It's a book that had me feeling everything. At times my heart hurt and others it was happy. It's a fantastic listen, one that will stick with me.

Once again, St James picks the perfect voices to bring her characters to life. Jack Calihan and Lance Greenfield gave me all the emotions with a fabulous narration. Calihan is phenomenal as Chase. He dials into his mind, letting me into the source of his sadness and grief. He finds each part of this man's heart and makes him raw and real. Greenfield comes in as Rett. He's a positive force, but he too carries some baggage, as he makes Rett authentic and believable. I fell into their world and couldn't stop listening. A fabulous performance for an amazing book.

Couldn’t Finish

Unlikeable, gruff MC meets unlikeable, preachy MC and it just drags on forever. The setting is nice, the premise has promise, but 7 hours in I cannot find the plot anywhere. It’s more a character study of grief than anything else which would be fine but I unfortunately got so far in that I can’t return it. DNF
