About this listen

A helpless ally calls for aid.

A ruthless enemy strikes without mercy.

The fate of empires turns on even the smallest actions.

When a minor trade partner sends the Castle Federation a desperate call for aid, they have few resources to spare from their all-consuming war against the Terran Commonwealth. Unwilling to be seen failing their allies but able to spare only a tiny force, Castle sends a hero to command the task group: Captain Kyle Roberts, the Stellar Fox.

Beyond the Rimward frontier of the Federation and its allies, little is as it seems. The pirates are being armed by an outside force, and the politics of these worlds is made deadlier by their poverty. When the Coraline Imperium - the Federation's oft-difficult ally - sends forces as well, it risks a conflict that could undermine the Alliance protecting them both.

There are deeper games afoot as local schemes play the great powers against each other. Captain Roberts is caught in the chaos as fire and blood explode across the region. There is only one certainty: these Rimward Stars must not fall.

another great Glynn Stewart book

this author continues to be one of my new favorites. This book one again puts Captain Roberts in the thick of it while facing increasing political tensions. The series remains less political than the Hand of Mars series and that's good... let's this one be a fun read.

Never Disappoints

Glynn Stewart's military series are always great reads, filled with Sci-Fi & military themes with human drama and plot twists with never expected results. Like a magician, something is always produced with a satisfying ending. Already looking forward to my next fix.

The End???

The ending of this book wrapped up nicely for the most part. Not sure if it is the end (I hope not) but I can see it going either way.

Rimward Stars

Another great book from Stewart which thankfully still follows the “Stellar Fox”.

A lot of series branch by the fourth or fifth book, but Stewart has grit his teeth and held on to his storytelling from the Fox’s view, something I was glad to see.

I also liked the fact that Stewart has once again changed scenery to let us see more of the galaxy in general, and doesn’t have us stuck in a few systems out of the thousands described to be within the different governments control.

I am not going to talk about the story more than generalization, but will say that this is better than the last and a great book.

Summerer’s performance was exactly as I have come to expect and was a great experience.

Great, but could be better

Glynn Stewart is great, Eric Michael Summener is great, and The Stellar Fox is great. Knowing that the next book in the series will conclude it, however, it feels a bit...insignificant. More like the first book in a series that establishes the protagonist as a smart person, but instead it's the fifth, where he takes a detour to...confirm it? I don't know. Enjoyable nonetheless.

If you like the genre, this is a good addition.

Would you consider the audio edition of Rimward Stars to be better than the print version?

Having the audiobook version available means I can continue the series when I don't have the time to sit and read. And the voice actor does a great job.

What did you like best about this story?

A good continuation of the story. Further growth of the characters both emotionally and in their careers.

What about Eric Michael Summerer’s performance did you like?

Variable, emotional, and added depth that improved the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Given enough time I'd have happily listened to the entire book in one sitting.
