Really Enjoyed the Book

I really enjoyed listening to this book. So much so, I just purchased the Kindle version so I could go back and review my favorite parts. There is a lot of useful and motivating information provided. I didn't really know who the author was (sorry, Mr. Burfoot), but you can be sure that I've done a lot of research and really appreciate his accomplishments. I greatly appreciate his contributions to the Run Forever mindset in writing this book.

Still Running and Still Injury Free @ 60

Great nuggets of information in this one. I've never been fast so that makes some of the ideas is this book easier to impliment. Even so, many people are always trying to faster and further, including me but I recently just like the fact that I can move forward. I recently cempleted 90 miles of the still elusive to me 100 mile ultra run but I'm getting closer and I will do it. Not fast but I will get it done. Some of the ideas in this book will help me get there. This book will help anyone who listens and impliments the ideas within. RUN ON!

Primer for running ( and cycling ) into agedness

Teaches active life while aging. A bit technical on running plans. Good preview into what to expect as we are active.

good book for rookie runners

best parts were amby's stories about his events (like Boston). touched on lots of little tips concisely. understood them but beginners may miss some.

Beginner Book

This is a great beginner book. Unfortunately, I have no idea how someone of his ability put that FSU created Gatorade? Are you kidding me! Wrong school, wrong city, wrong mascot, WRONG WRONG WRONG, how did this get thru everyone? Amby stated he was even involved with the testing of the creation of the product.
THEN, he said dont listen to music while running. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I only listen to audible while running, I guess I should not of purchased the book--delete.....

A truly excellent book, but a content warning (ED)

I absolutely loved this book overall. It was inspiring and had great practical advice I put to use almost immediately. Amby Burfoot is welcoming to all runners, and encourages a self-compassionate approach to running. This book prompts you to think about why you run, and to try your best but be gentle with yourself.

I completely understand that many people come to running with weight loss goals, and that being overweight/obese puts more stress on your joints, etc. However, if you have struggled with disordered eating or body image issues, this may not be the book for you. Burfoot includes advice chapters like "No post-run snacking" and "Lose 10 pounds," and includes descriptions of how easy it is to eat more kcals than you burn during a run, and a calculation for how much slower each pound of body weight makes you. Disordered eating and restriction are quite common among runners, and this advice may be harmful to this group. If you'd still like to read it, skip Burfoot's "Nutrition" chapter, and the couple sub-chapters regarding food and body weight.
