"All the women of my family had gone to war... Now my turn had come... So, it is the custom that a free woman leave her mother's house to bind herself and those of her blood to a neighboring clan, either by the sword or by the cradle." So begins the story of young Tamras, as she embarks on her journey to become a warrior's apprentice. This epic story is not about battles and armor, but rather about relationships, coming of age and wisdom, and deep insights into the human experience.

Story
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Dance Teacher Finds Love in 1900's Idaho
Sarah's Special Gift is an enchanting clean western romance set in the early 1900’s written by Linda Weaver Clarke. It is the fourth story in the Bear Lake, Idaho Saga that picks up several years after the third story (Jenny’s Dream) ends. This book centers around Sarah, a new dance teacher in the area as she opens up a dance studio. Despite being deaf, she is never in want of dance partners at the weekend socials. While visiting old family friends (the Roberts family from the first book in the series), Sarah befriends David. Their relationship starts off as friendship and the love between them develops slowly, which makes it that much more believable.
This story really resonated with me, having a daughter who used to dance with a professional dance company as a student and who has partial hearing loss. Much like Sarah in the story, my daughter endured much difficulty communicating with others for 10 years, yet she never experienced difficultly expressing herself in dance.
There is also a side story about the legend of the Bear Lake Monster, which dates back to Native American times. David is determined to prove there is no Bear Lake Monster, which backfires on him with subtle humor and a touch of mystic.
As she did with the other audiobooks in this series, Carolyn Kashner did an admirable job narrating. She provided varying voices for all characters and inflected just the right amount of emotion in all the right places. Bravo!

good one
I did enjoy listening to this book. I really enjoyed the characters. The reason for a 3-star instead of a 4 is the author repeated themselves many times about why he was in town and why he didn't want to get married. Besides that all is good.

Learning to overcome a disability
This is a sweet story based on real life. Linda Weaver Clark wrote about her grandmother and the reality of her life . It is a clean well written story and I loved how the story flowed. Sara was her grandmother's name and she was also deaf. David was great. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good love story.

Family is precious
Sarah's Special Gift is Book 4 in A Family Saga in Bear Lake, Idaho by Linda Weaver Clarke. I think that this western series is so good. The era has strong family and a slower life with everyone working hard to support the family. David Roberts had his life turned around by the kindness of Gilbert and Melinda. When he needs time to get away, he leaves Denver for an extended visit to Idaho. David finds talk about the Bear Lake monster, a beautiful lady, Sarah, and good friends. Book 4 has action, romance, and family. Carolyn Kashner gives an outstanding performance with the narration. I received an arc for free and an leaving my review voluntarily.

Excellent
She is successful with her own dance studio and finding the joy in life. Unusual in the era of 1900’s. He comes to her rescue when she is attacked. The attraction is strong, but feels he needs to accomplish other financial things before settling down. The author uses family situation and also good narration that added to the story. The series is a good one to read or listen by audio. Given audio for my voluntary review

The legend of Bear Lake.
Oh this series gets more and more exciting for me. And to know that parts of it are true is even more enticing. Dave is so confused and maybe Sarah too will they fall in love? Carolyn Kashner really brings the characters to life and even some of the cute parts are read so well. Loved Sarah's Special Gift hated for it to end. Cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Lovely story!
Sarah's Special Gift is 4th book in the Bear Lake Family Saga Series but it stands alone. However reading the rest of the series adds more depth to the characters.
Sarah has been deaf since a childhood illness but she worked hard to overcome obstacles. She is a dancer and became a dance teacher inspite of her disability. She is an important part of the community who accepts her for who she is. This was a very inspirational and romantic story that readers of all ages will enjoy! I have enjoyed the entire Bear Lake series and look forward to the story conyinuing . I was gifted a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Love this whole series!
I love this series by Linda Weaver Clarke. This was the Audible version and I was able to listen while doing other things. Love that! I enjoyed the narrator, Carolyn Kashner,
Sarah's Special Gift was book 4 in the Bear Lake Family Saga series. I really enjoyed it and it was a fun read for me since my daughter was also a dance teacher. The difference though is the fact that Sarah has been deaf since contracting an illness. As a result, it is truly a gift that she is such a wonderful dancer, not being able to even hear the music.
As she meets David, their lives become entwined and at the beginning he has no idea that she can't hear as she speaks well.
I love how the characters of the earlier books are carried through into this book and you can see how their lives developed through time. And I love reading and listening to books about places that I know and recognize. I look forward to the next book! This series is wonderful and very enjoyable for all ages of readers.
I received an Audible version from the Author. All thoughts are my own.
