Grips you from jump street.

Where does Season of the Harvest rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

That's easy Top 5 but I have just got started on Audible...

Who was your favorite character and why?

Obviously the main character the hero, but also Richards.... as best supporting actor

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene with the 3 FBI agents knocking on our heros door, a fellow agent, and he allows them in for questioning

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen in one sitting

Any additional comments?

actually really really enjoyed this story, so much so that I immediately looked for the sequel on audible. Unfortunately that wasn't available but enough with my problems. The story opens with an intense scene I will not spoil for you. The narration is fantastic truly, I listened to another audiobook right after this one and didn't know how fortunate I was. The story isn't bad either, but the pace of that story is what makes it special. I deeply cared for the hero in the story so Hicks did his job there and I'm very much into fringe topics and conspiracy so I didn't have a problem with the plot. If you're not into fringe, conspiracy etc... this isn't a book for you.
I did have some issues delving deeper into the book in respect to the antagonists. I would have liked more back story and explanation on them. You are just left with the you know what the characters have found out about them motif. I expect a little more than that, a fairly large gripe on my part and the antagonists themselves weren't that well thought out. Certain attributes they possess and talents they use don't seem to work without an explanation that you aren't given. Basically you just have to accept them for what they are and what little are known about them. Also there are major major world events taking place here that are far fetched.
The good news is that the pace of the story and the telling of it is really so good that I came out of this more than satisfied with the listen. Quite entertaining and the story gets in and gets moving.

would be a great movie

this was a good action adventure type story how long the lines of Jurassic Park or other Crichton books. the author made enough detail to make the story pretty believable even know it was way out there in terms of the basic premise. I love the aliens or creatures trying to destroy the world theme , and GMOs where a good route for the story. I don't happen to believe GMOs are really a threat of any kind to anybody but it was still good for a fiction story. the reader was excellent and fit the characters well enough.

Loved this book!

Really kept me interested. And the narrator was the best I've ever heard! Definitely reading the other two books in trilogy.

Chilling!

It's scary how much this story could be happening, right now! I happened upon Season of the Harvest by accident and I'm SO GLAD I found it. This very believable book has it all, great narration, characters, suspense, terror, mystery and romance. Can't wait to read the second book. I wish audible would add it to their library, but I bought the Kindle version just in case they don't : ) LOVED IT!

Genetically Modified Conspiracy

The story is X-Files meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers with The Thing thrown in for good measure. Nothing good can come from Big Pharma and Big Agro in cahoots with desperate, ruthless aliens. And when the aliens exist among us undetected in strategic government and law enforcement positions... what can stop them? Season of Harvest has an interesting premise centering on the real life explosion of genetically modified food. There is action and some suspense but the story is somewhat weakened by the "romance" of the two main characters which seems forced. There are other parts that also did not feel genuine to me, like the missile silo/research stations. And I did not ‘feel’ the cat angle either. It was well worth my time and credit but it left me feeling it could have been better. Overall a 3.7.

WOW!! Orginal Plot That Will Have You Thinking!

What made the experience of listening to Season of the Harvest the most enjoyable?

Not what I thought the book would be and that was refreshing, even if it was a little scary.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The FBI agent, Jack and the cats. I'm a cat lover so I enjoyed the author giving cats an important role in the story.

Have you listened to any of Edward E. French’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but he was good. He kinda added to the "errie" tone of the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I will never look at food and what we can do with it, the same. It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "You are what you eat!"

Any additional comments?

I was shocked at how much I really enjoyed this book and the storyline is something everyone would enjoy. Buy the book, I am sure you will enjoy too!!
