Publisher's summary

Nowhere is safe. Clare and Dorran scramble to secure their temporary sanctuary from the hungry things outside. The hollow ones, ravenous beings unaffected by the violent winter storms, patiently lie in wait. It's not a matter of if Clare and Dorran are attacked, but when. And Clare knows she'll have to venture out into the night soon…Somewhere far away, Clare's sister Beth is trapped, with only hours to live. Hundreds of miles separate the sisters and the land between them is infested with monstrosities. There's a bitter deadline to this rescue mission, but Clare won't lose Beth without a fight.

She knows she can't survive the trip by herself. But even with Dorran at her side, can she truly hope to face the ruthless predators and make it to her desperate sister before it's too late? They all may be lost to the dark winter.

Exciting adventurous twists!

Wow, so great! I read this in almost one sitting. Great story, vocals and overall mystery and twists! They should make this series into a movie!

A slow, yet satisfying sequel.

With the way the beginning of Clare and Dorran's journey in Voices in the Snow ended, I just had to know what came next. 482 pages later, I'm now enamored, and I need more.

These audiobooks are a wonderful companion to reading the physical copy, and I highly recommend it.

4.5 stars for a continuing adventure!!!

This was a great continuation from book one! It really makes you feel like the first book didn't stop! There is only one thing that is keeping me from giving it 5 stars. There is a part about a vehicle that was implausible bordering on impossible that threw me off for a little while. Before and after that part it is an amazing story!!! Now for book 3!!!!

Walking Dead but different!

Book 2 of The Black Winter... Wow book 2 was better than 1 if that's even possible. I absolutely love it! The wait list for the next book is too long they Libby so I'm using another credit. Narration is excellent, the story line is similar to Walking Dead but different in its own way. I love Claire and Dorran (mostly Dorran) his simplicity is so refreshing they go perfectly together. This book took less than a day for me to listen to- I really need to think of a way to make it last longer. My husband likes it too which is very rare. I listen at night when we go to bed. Well, if you like TWD you'll def like this. I'm heading for book 3 right now!

Lots of suspense

I enjoyed the multiple twists and narrow escapes in all four books in the series. The outcome of the story was explained well and tied up the characters lives neatly in book 4. I could have done without so many run ins with the Hollows though. I would definitely recommend. I finished all 4 books in about two weeks as I was hard pressed to stop.

Love this series so much!!

Not only is the story fantastic but this is one of the BEST narrations I’ve heard! When Clare and Dorran are in the elevator I was teary just because there was so much emotion being portrayed in the narrators voice.
Loved this book, it was a great continuation full of turns, action, and heart ache! I’m off to listen to the third!!

Great atmosphere, horrible characters

I love the atmosphere and the build up at first... but the characters are just god awful. the way they just fawn over each other every 15 seconds made me think I'd accidentally picked up some kind if smut, definitely not this authors best work.
