About this listen

Survive, grow stronger, and get revenge. All in a new world.

Seth loved his life on Earth. He graduated from his dream college, worked at his dream job, and married his dream girl. Unfortunately, it was all taken away from him when he woke up alone in a dark cavern prowling with dangerous monsters.

Armed with only a small dagger of mysterious origin, he has no choice but to fight through this web of death and darkness to get to safety. But with both his rare abyssal magic and his desire to return home, he will survive this nightmare by any means necessary, and get revenge on those who ripped him away from his dream life, even if it meant fighting through hordes of giant lizards, groups of terrible bandits, and whatever other person or monster that got in his way.

the narrators were pretty good, only problem with them is the male narrator was overly dramatic al the time even when talking about mundane things. the store writing felt very odd from time to time discounted and won't words or fraise used when talking about something. other than that it was pretty okay middling at best.

writing was weird.

This was a great start to a new adventure. Easy to follow stat system, interesting world building and well developed characters. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Great start!

this was a very well done book. I feel like there was almost two different books in one. it was fast paced. it has lots of action and some mystery. the fight scenes were well written with lots of close calls and drama. the narration was excellent and I can't wait for book 2.

great new series. bring me book 2

I really enjoyed this, the MC really has it hard through your and his trials lead him to become pretty powerful. Although I hate it when the author names a series like this.. I mean come on, how about “The Abyssal Assassin” sounds way better. Outside of that it was great and the performance was really well done aswell

Pretty great

Really enjoyed this audiobook. The characters are good and the action isn't boring. The literpg element is just right. Goldilocks would be eating this up. Thank you can't wait for the next one.

Assassins rise

The overall direction, plot themes, and characters in this book are good. There's enough divergence from generic storylines that the scenarios are unique and fresh. Characters are well written, though internal dialouges seem to bounce between insightful and then complete uninterest at times.
The main reason I can't give this book a higher score (though I finished it and the 2nd book) are the amount of repeated phrases and adjectives. There are maybe 10 sets of descriptions used through the book, many many times each.
it's unfortunately quite distracting, and while the voice actor did a good job in general, his style doesn't vary enough to mask the repetitive writing.
3 stars, wish I could give it 4, because I think the book would be there otherwise!

Good Plot and Ideas Hampered by Repetition

This is such an amazing story narrated by two of my favorite narration teams ever!

May be the hardest dungeon crawl ever talked about! Wake up in a dark cave surrounded by monsters!

Good story with nonstop action! Great start for a new series!

This was so good I could not stop listening. Ready for book 2 yesterday. Duet narration is the amazing as always.

Not bad but not great. The premise is fun and the narration was great. The system was good. The main character did not feel like he had the mindset of an assassin. It was more like the author thought “hey I played this cool class one time in s video game, let me write about it”. The writing got repetitive at times and the fight scenes were a little disjointed in certain scenes. Overall decent but maybe the author needs another couple books under their belt.

Decent
