About this listen

After the heist comes the fade.

Hunted and on the run inside the fabled and dangerous City of Thieves, U.S. Army Ranger Sniper Sergeant Thor must pull the greatest fade of his career as powerful sorcerers and conniving eunuchs dispatch small armies of deadly mercenaries and vicious hired killers to track down and take what Thor has stolen fair and square.

Other dangers await the Ranger inside the wild and untamed alleys, temples, once-mighty fortresses, and degenerate palaces of the Ruin's greatest and most ancient of cities. Intrigue, betrayal, and mystery abound in this taut tightwire run-for-your-life dash to deceive and best the enemies who have unwisely set themselves against the lethal Sergeant Thor.

In the City of Thieves, the game doesn't stop after the bodies hit the floor. Assassins, bandits, warriors, wizards, monsters, and gods are all out to get Thor before a fabled treasure slips through their grasp and disappears forever.

In a fantastic city caught between its diabolical devils and the deep blue sea, legendary for its larceny, lies, and licentiousness, Sergeant Thor must be more cunning than the best the City of Thieves has to offer in order to survive and win.

The hunters become the hunted.

An epic Conan-esque adventure

Great side piece of The Ruin series. Sgt. Thor is a serious badass who is a man of few words but great actions. While I'm waiting on more Ruin books these will tide me over.

I heard tell

I hear tell that chapter 50 was the best ever, as they say. Thems that’s in the knows. That is.

Conan as a Ranger

It starts a little disjointed, but once things get going hang on! Can't wait to see where Thor heads to next.

Very good follow up to book one

You have to marvel at sgt Thor, this character comes across as the real deal, must be based upon a composite of a few folks in real life or something like that to be this real feeling

Nick Cole's Talker, another great story narrates

This was a better entry than last time. With a great narration and story writing, there is guaranteed satisfaction if you have grown used to the high quality story telling by Cole. I will say that this story in particular stroke a chord with this well setup comparison of a fantastical violent city with our current day civilization - past the curtains things really are just as they have always been if only for some of us with a much better quality of life.. And as well, I find great value in the small connection setups that remind us of the simplest and yet most rewarding facets of life - the innocent wonder of children. Not as impactful as the horse whisperer segment in a previous story, but I felt a meaningful connection nevertheless. If you have read this far you know you won't be disappointed with this audiobook.
