About this listen

After the heist comes the fade.

Hunted and on the run inside the fabled and dangerous City of Thieves, U.S. Army Ranger Sniper Sergeant Thor must pull the greatest fade of his career as powerful sorcerers and conniving eunuchs dispatch small armies of deadly mercenaries and vicious hired killers to track down and take what Thor has stolen fair and square.

Other dangers await the Ranger inside the wild and untamed alleys, temples, once-mighty fortresses, and degenerate palaces of the Ruin's greatest and most ancient of cities. Intrigue, betrayal, and mystery abound in this taut tightwire run-for-your-life dash to deceive and best the enemies who have unwisely set themselves against the lethal Sergeant Thor.

In the City of Thieves, the game doesn't stop after the bodies hit the floor. Assassins, bandits, warriors, wizards, monsters, and gods are all out to get Thor before a fabled treasure slips through their grasp and disappears forever.

In a fantastic city caught between its diabolical devils and the deep blue sea, legendary for its larceny, lies, and licentiousness, Sergeant Thor must be more cunning than the best the City of Thieves has to offer in order to survive and win.

The hunters become the hunted.

I hear tell that chapter 50 was the best ever, as they say. Thems that’s in the knows. That is.

Great side piece of The Ruin series. Sgt. Thor is a serious badass who is a man of few words but great actions. While I'm waiting on more Ruin books these will tide me over.

An epic Conan-esque adventure

As with all the Fogotten Ruin tales, there is much world and character building. Creative architecture and a stable structure come together to create a truly entertaining world of Bullets & Bows.
To achieve the required level of reader education, particularly the reader who never played TTRPGs, a certain level of exposition must be employed. This, the 2nd Sgt Thor title among many FR titles is by far the tale most laden with such billowing wordsmithing. it was just slightly over the line of what I find to be "too much", but I'm a harsh critic. Regardless the quantity of the prose, the quality is very good for a tale in such a setting.
In conclusion, I'd warn against missing this title. it's well written, well laid out and wonderfully acted out by one of the best VAs in the biz.

Exposition in the Weird Ruin

It starts a little disjointed, but once things get going hang on! Can't wait to see where Thor heads to next.

You have to marvel at sgt Thor, this character comes across as the real deal, must be based upon a composite of a few folks in real life or something like that to be this real feeling

Very good follow up to book one
