About this listen

The year is 1896. Doctor Watson is invited to the Dorsetshire coast by an old friend. To Watson's surprise he manages to persuade his good friend, Mr. Sherlock Holmes, to accompany him. This hitherto unknown tale of Watson's involves romancing, dancing, and occasional glasses of cider, but the holiday turns into a nightmare as the two old friends encounter an unimaginable evil which threatens their very souls. Can they triumph?

A wonderful trio of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson stories; from Homes being accused as a spy to ghosts and Doctor Watson being given a haunted writing desk. Loved Them.

At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this story. There were some hints of the supernatural, but I was not sure if it would turn out to be natural, or not. I won’t disclose which way it went, but I am definitely looking forward to the next story.

This edition had a few “bonus” stories and musings, which I quite enjoyed. All in all, it was well written and a fun listen. Speaking of listening, the narrator did an outstanding job. My only big gripe was his egregious mispronunciation of “automaton” but then again, only geeks seem to get it right.

So in summary, listen and enjoy!

These stories are so terrible as to be laughable. The narrator does his best with the material but alas it is so boring it is a waste of time.
