About this listen

Though Frederica chafed at the restricted life she lived as the adopted daughter of an infamous bluestocking, she did agree with the philosophy. Until men learned to appreciate intellectual equals, Frederica was better off without them. But her sister’s elopement has sparked fires of romance in Frederica’s well-educated head, making her ripe for the considerable charms of Lord Harry Danger, who has saved her from a pack of drunken thugs. Now if he would only treat her as an equal and stop the silly flirting.

I’m really enjoying this author! Interesting stories with romance without all the sex details! He takes her to bed, but no details. Really appreciate that these are clean! Will keep reading this author!

I Beaton's like stories. There's always an element of humor, and I like to laugh. The narrator contributed to my enjoyment.

I love all the M C Beaton books so far. And I find that you don’t always need to read them in order. They are great fun. I laugh sometimes at the authors humor. They are fun and light stories and very entertaining

Entertaining

So I started to read the first of these books and was starting to get into it and than it seem to disappear or I assume maybe be taken off of the free books? But anyways I found this little gem 💎 🤭 it’s the second book of this series I believe and is just toooo funny I found myself smiling and rolling my eyes , but mainly smiling at all the silliness. I believe it was written or published at least in 1989 which is the year I was born. But I loved this book because it was similar but different than all the other books of this type in a way, it was enjoyable , I usually can’t hold for too long with some of these romantic floaty type books but I love history so I find myself try to dive into some them for historical sakes. And I love it when written by female with a little edge lol

😂 LOVE IT

I enjoyed the early thoughts on women’s suffrage. The hypocrisy of all involved appears so obvious but it still confounds even the deepest thinker today

Surprisingly good

One sister down and two to go! Frederica is left with the sting of her sister’s elopement which goes against everything she has been taught by her blue stocking adoptive mother. Her life doesn’t get easier when there are several attempts on her life and treachery targeted at the Waverly jewels. Each time, her hero comes to rescue her. Can she trust her knight in shining armor and go against everything she believes? Historical romance with a twist of Beaton’s humor.

Great Part 2 in the Series

This author is one of my favorite storytellers. She never fails to draw me in quickly and by the end of chapter one, I'm as engaged with the characters as if they were my neighbors. The narration is perfectly paired with the plot and expertly done.

M.C. Beaton does it again
