Yet of all the men in the world, it is Althalus, unrepentant rogue and scoundrel, who will become the champion of humanity in its desperate struggle against the forces of an ancient god determined to return the universe to nothingness.

Story
The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

Any additional comments?
I thought this was a very cute, light-hearted story with some laugh out loud dialog. If you are looking for something fun in the chick lit department, this book is perfect. The narrator didn't drive me nuts like she did others, but she did pause a lot. Don't let that sway your decision - it is still a great listen.

Entertaining. Good mystery.
What did you like about this audiobook?
I like that you don't know until the very end "who done it".
How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
I like this author's style of writing,.
Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?
Very interesting method of discovery.
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
The accent is just a little over the top. Being from Texas, and having lived in West Texas, while the accents are pretty thick, this just isn't the way most people sound.
Do you have any additional comments?
I will continue to listen to the rest of her books. I hope she writes more.

Delightfully Entertaining
From the beginning I was captured by the author's use of "Texas" colloquialisms. I found myself laughing out loud with "glued zippers" and allergies. Add this to your list this is a fun and entertaining book!

Great Listen with FUN characters!
This was a really Fun listen. The characters were great and portrayed well. The story was entertaining and took a couple of nice twists. I loved the realness of the conversations.

Pause Pause
The story is really cute, but the narrator drove me nuts with all the pauses. She stopped between each sentence like a robot reading the story.

Loved it....
I was hesitant to buy this book due to the negative comments about the narrator. I am so glad I did, I loved the story and the narrator. I know people who sound just like this narrator, I grew up in a small rural Texas town and this book nailed life in a small town. It is laugh out loud funny.
