The end is just the beginning....
Jaqk Wright, YouTuber and internet personality, wakes from a nightmare to a real-life horror story.
New York City's disappeared, and her sister, Dakota, who supposedly died over a decade ago, claims responsibly on behalf of one of Earth's greatest natural powers.
As the deity responsible sends her 30-story-tall "children" to ravage the Earth, Jaqk is pulled deeper into an enigma that may cost her her sanity, dignity, and life.
With the help of a modern-day samurai, her uncle-turned-military general, and a mentally disturbed scientist, can she save herself, her partner Monique, her sister, and even the world?

Thankfully, Hoover is very good at character building, because this was a character driven novel, even if it’s still about the Kaiju at the end of the day, the characters are what get us there and who are telling the story. Wright was an interesting and unique character that I couldn’t help want to know more about as the story progressed.
I don’t want to speak ill of anyone or anything, especially because I know how hard audiobook narrating and producing are, but I thought that the recording of Siron by Kelsey Ann Wacker was a little underproduced. I’m unsure of what her recording space looks like but I noticed a lot of “dead space” sound (sound not being absorbed). It sounded like this was recorded in more of a normal room compared to a booth with proper sound proofing. Now, that being said, it distracted me, someone who listens to 100-150 books a year. But to an average user, it probably won’t even cross your mind. You might notice it, but then after a chapter or two it’ll go away because your brain ignores it (like it did for me).
Overall, I enjoyed Siron and I thought that it holds up as a horror novel or as a kaiju thriller. That’s pretty hard to do, but I think Hoover pulled it off.
