About this listen

A lone survivor embarks on a post-apocalyptic quest for revenge in the seventh installment of this gritty zombie-thriller series.

Killing the sadistic warlord known as the Dog Tongue took everything Gus Berry had, including the woman he loved. Now, all he wants is to get away from the bloody scene of their final showdown. But when he heads west in a stolen truck, a brutal snowstorm forces him to turn back—and seek refuge in the Dog Tongue’s former headquarters.

Though it’s littered with human carnage, the abandoned luxury hotel has a lot to offer a guy like Gus. But in addition to soft beds and working toilets, he encounters still-lurking dangers both living and undead. Determined to destroy the Dog Tongue’s followers once and for all, he resolves to follow their ominous trail wherever it may lead . . .

Combining dystopian suspense and zombie-killing action with complex characters and dark humor, Skull Road is the seventh book in Keith C. Blackmore’s thrilling Mountain Man series—perfect for fans of HBO’s The Last of Us

Worth the Wait!!!

Gus is back and Skull Road is Excellent. Didn’t realize how much I missed Gus and his mouth!! This is only the third time I have reviewed by not just giving STARS on over 1200 audiobooks. That’s how much I enjoyed this listen.

WONDERFUL

Writing:
Outstanding. The way KCB ended “Mindless” set the tone for Gus beginning to go to a very dark place, with another imaginary companion. The story blended seamlessly into what really seems like the final chapter of Gus Berry’s adventures. Without spoilers, the story made me cringe, laugh, and cry. It was nothing short of masterful. I hate to see it wnd, but nothing is forever.

Performance:

RC Bray once again delivers a stellar reading of the saga. His vocal and emotional range is exceptional.

Highlights: The continued battle against the Leather, the insight into Gus’ mental state, and the revival of the Norsemen.

Least favorite part of the book: the end. Not the ending, that was great. But the fact that it had to end.

Simply Wow! An amazing seventh installment!

this entire series has been amazing, a thrill ride that does not disappoint. I've also found a heart-felt affinity for Gus. This would make an amazing TV Series. Well written, the storyline flows immaculately from one event to another, drawing me forward with anticipation of what will happen next. And last but never least, RC Bray is the unmatched master of narration. His ability to bring voices that bring the reader closer to each character, and grab unfettered attention, is amazing.

loved it!

another great entry in the Mountain Man saga. I truly hope this isn't the end of Gus, but if it does end here, it's a fitting ending. Once again, Bray knocks it out of the park.

Great Series

I have enjoyed listening to all the books. Good story, great narration. Will there be a book 8 in the series?

Great Ending (if it is an ending)

it was a little slow at first but quickly returned to the frantic pace that makes all these stories so good.

The end of Gus's story?

Is this really the final entry in Gus's story. I hope not as it seems as if it could be the beginning of another great spin-off just waiting to be told. I have enjoyed this entire series. Thank you Keith C. Blackmore for an enjoyable ride.

Superb

Good ole’ Gus at it again! This might be my favorite in the series. Never disappointed with Keith’s writing style. And of course, RC Bray knocked it outta the park.

Another great Mountain Man book!

The Mountain Man series is by far my favorite of all time, and I have been listening to audiobooks for over 20 years. I buy every Mountain Man book that comes out without even reading any reviews. This book is just as good if no better than any of the others. I hope they Blackmore keeps writing more, I’ll keep buying them. Great book, the same intense situations and heartwarming moments too.
