About this listen

Northumberland, 1786

Amid the upheaval of his newfound title, young Adam Boyce, now the Duke of Kielder, finds solace in the care of Robbie, his loyal nursemaid. Troubled by his past and bound by societal expectations, Adam finds his journey taking a hopeful turn when he’s welcomed into the embrace of Lord and Lady Jonquil at their esteemed estate, Brier Hill.

Within the serene surroundings of Brier Hill, Adam and Robbie encounter Howard Simpkin, a charismatic gardener whose presence adds a touch of enchantment to their days. Together with the Jonquils, Robbie and Howard embark on a mission to rekindle Adam’s youthful spirit. Through games, toys, and even a whimsical April Christmas celebration, they endeavor to lift the weight of responsibility from the young duke’s shoulders.

Yet as Adam flourishes, Robbie finds herself torn between duty and desire. With Adam growing up all too quickly, Robbie must decide between her budding affection for Howard and her unwavering commitment to Adam’s well-being.

In this tale of love, sacrifice, and redemption set against the backdrop of Sarah M. Eden’s well-beloved Gents series, Adam and his caregivers discover that healing and happiness await those who dare to seek them.

Beautiful, Sweet Story!

I listened to this re-released novella (with a special bonus epilogue) and enjoyed it thoroughly again! The narration and gentle story telling make me feel as if I am back in time and experiencing life - both the good and difficult times with these characters.

This novella is particularly sweet in that you get to see Adam, the Duke of Kielder, as a boy who recently lost his father. Lucas and Julia, from the Gents series, take Adam under their wing and it is always a beautiful thing to see how Lucas and Julia take care of the people they love.

I adore The Gents series and this sweet novella is a joy!

Baby Adam is so cute!

well he is 7 years old but he still is so adorable. And it tells you so much about his character that's hidden in Seeking Persephone and that gets revealed and the other Lancaster and Janquil books. Just his tiny little heart trying to take everything in and know how it is to be cared and loved for. Then just seeing how Lucas and Julia treat him is so wonderful. And the romance on the side doesn't hurt either.

the whole series!

The gents, the jonquills, I think it's called the maiden warriors. this whole series is totally breathtakingly beautiful! The Love and support, the choice of chosen family, the conquering of obstacles, hit straight at the heart! I actually love the characters and the wonderful weaving of lives in the several series! it is a true masterpiece!

Heartwarming

I absolutely loved getting to see this glimpse into Adam's childhood! It makes the rest of the books he is in so much more profound! It is also great timing to have more back story before the Seeking Persephone movie comes out!

One of my favourites, such a sweet novella

Heartwarming story, little Adam deserves the world and so much more, and absolutely✨fantastic✨ narrator! Her voice is like honey, it’s so refreshing. Please make her the default Sarah Eden narrator she’s so much better than Luone Ingram- no offence. Luone’s narrations r always off just enough to be grating, whereas this narrator has regency voices down to a science. Please please PLEASE make her the default🙏🏻
