About this listen

Nearly 50 percent of Americans checked the "single" box in the 2010 census. Because we equate touch with sex, many of us suffer alone when we crave physical comfort and tenderness. Somebody Hold Me takes a simple, radical approach to health and relationships by teaching you how to get more platonic touch.

Somebody Hold Me walks you through the increasingly fraught physical space between humans and allows for more connection and closeness through giving and receiving structured touch in your existing relationships.

Designed for people in alternative communities (burners, pagans, polyamorists, kinksters, asexuals, furries, ren festers, cosplayers) who have large circles of friends, Somebody Hold Me is a step-by-step guide to share touch with people you already know.

Enjoy better health, feel happier, and deepen your friendships. Get off your phone, out of your head, and into your body with the simple practice of nurturing human touch.

Amazing ideas!

This book is so necessary now in this world where you can go days or weeks without touching another person. The book is relatable, with good examples and good advice for how to give yourself some awesome self care. I strongly recommend.

I didn’t know I I needed this book!

As a late bloomer and still socially awkward person myself, I found myself doing some really dumb things to feel loved and accepted for who I want to be. I know now, it was because I was starved of touch and community. If you have children give this to them early, please.

Clear, Compassionate, Practical, Actionable

This book is an excellent guide for single people who are touch-starved (so many of us are) who have friends who are also touch-starved. It has wonderful background information as well as detailed step-by-step guides for forming a touch-exploration group among your existing friends. Among the many wonderful points about this book is that Epiphany understands and communicates that not everyone who has unmet touch needs has exactly the same needs and wants.

In addition to the content, I love the way Epiphany's voice comes through the text: knowledgeable, compassionate, practical, witty, quirky, helpful. Lessa Lamb brings out that voice wonderfully in her reading.

Very informative!

I found this book to be very informative and also excellent in the area of "why" I felt so depressed and lonely at times. The negligence of bodily touch was relevant. I would recommend it to anyone that feels lonely or depressed even if they are already married or in a relationship. Overall, it is an educational writing on the subject.

Life Changing

This is a great book! It goes over the benefits of nurturing human touch, and makes clear that it doesn't have anything to do with sexual touch. The author makes a good case for why we all would benefit from more caring touch. Then she explains how we can form groups of friends to share touch. This includes ideas of how to approach your friends about this subject, and then goes into many structured activities that can be followed along. I was pleased that a whole section was devoted to consent and practicing saying no and negotiating touch activities with a partner.
Interspersed in the "how to" parts of the book are charming anecdotes of the author's personal experience, which liven up the book.
On a technical note, the book is well structured. PDF notes are available to audio book listeners and the reader pauses to allow the listener to get the PDFs and note taking materials. The reader has a pleasant voice and is fun to listen to.

Excellent

I don't usually go in for non-fiction, let alone self-help, but this book really resonated with me. I went through a divorce about a year ago and have been feeling a need to be touched since. I loved the examples and exercises about how to get the touch I need from my friends and people I'm already close to without trying to engage with anyone romantically.
Thank you, Epiphany!
