Someone Like You

So, so good! Two injured souls who come together to heal. You would never know Lincoln does not have it all. He is the ultimate playboy, at least that is what he portrays to the world. Really he is celibate after his fiance is in a car crash and critically injured and he has spent the last couple years and he visits the last Sunday of the month. This has been his life until his boss's wedding and meeting Daisy, the maid of honor and twin sister of the bride. Daisy is newly divorced. Both are warned off each other but end up ditching the reception. These two are made for each other but it is a slow burn but a wonderful story.

What is happening with this narration?!?

Oh man. I like these Lauren Layne books but what is happening with this narrator?? It’s not a real human—-there’s no way. Bummer because it would be so much more enjoyable with the girl that does the other Oxford series books. I’m nervous to see who narrates the next one….

took a while to get used to the narrator

I feel like the narrator grew on me with time. in the beginning sometimes the narrator sounded like a computer-generated voice, but improve as things went on. I do think the hero needed to grovel more in the end. however, I am a sucker for stories of healing and I really liked elements of this one.

Perfection!

I read this one on a book app once and loved it, but there's something about having the full book that makes this story even better. I didn't find this one to drag on at any point and the ending was better than on the app.

Stock Up on Tissues

The Oxford story has it’s jewel and it is Someone Like You.
Layne brings a solid dose of life’s sad & harsh reality into this story. The giggles are still there, but few readers will be unable to identify a bit of their own stories here.

Outstanding Read, So-So Narration

I loved the story and yes I teared up. It was perfect.

The narrator really needs to work on delivery. It was stiff and without the feeling in the first two audio books of the series. That said, it is still a good book.

love the story

love this story, Lauren Layne has so many good books but this is my favorite. I was not impressed with the narration on this story though I felt it was more robotic than a real person.

Felt like Siri was reading to me

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator was terrible. I was really looking forward to Lincoln's story, but found it hard to enjoy the book because I was focusing on the delivery too much.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lincoln was a complex character, which I knew from the previous books. Learning about why he lived the way he did and experiencing his transformation was satisfying.

How could the performance have been better?

A 10 year old child could have done better. I will NEVER listen to another audio book performed by this person.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

A better narrator. I really felt cheated.

Any additional comments?

Worth the listen, but be prepared to think your iPhone is reading it to you.
