About this listen
The galaxy just called for help. Unfortunately, the wrong man answered.
When small-time con man Cal Carver is thrown in jail and forced to share a cell with a semi-naked, cannibalistic serial killer, he's pretty sure his day can't get any worse. Boy, is he wrong. It isn't until two-thirds of the human race is wiped out and Cal is mistakenly abducted by aliens that things really start to go downhill.
Whisked across the galaxy, Cal is forced into a team of some of the sector's most notorious villains and scumbags and tasked with delivering a package to a warlord-run solar system where the authorities daren't venture. The mission should be simple enough, but as one screwup leads to another the ragtag group of unwitting heroes find themselves in a frantic battle to save an entire alien civilization - and its god - from total annihilation.
Performed by Phil Thron, Danny Gavigan, Carolyn Kashner, Darius Johnson, Yasmin Tuazon, Bradley Smith, Henry W. Kramer, Eric Messner, Terence Aselford, Alejandro Ruiz, Jacob Yeh, Nanette Savard, Chris Genebach, Scott McCormick, Ken Jackson, Rose Elizabath Supan, Mort Shelby, Kimberly Gilbert, Laura C. Harris, Richard Rohan, Nora Achrati, Colleen Delany, David Zitney, and Michael John Casey.

A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Story
Hank is a thug. He knows he's a thug. He has no problem with that realization. In his view the galaxy has given him a gift: a mutation that allows him to withstand great deals of physical trauma. He puts his abilities to the best use possible and that isn't by being a scientist. Besides, the space station Belvaille doesn't need scientists. It is not, generally, a thinking person's locale. It is the remotest habitation in the entire Colmarian Confederation. There is literally no reason to be there.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force - and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. I have only two options left to me: banishment, or training to become one of the King's Elite Guards, an Ender. Option one will kill me. The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent. The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, Godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. But Elantris fell...10 years ago.

This is one of my favourite comedy sci-fi series
Audible, this is ridiculous!!! I just wanted to rate this book and not write a review. Having to write reviews in order to rate has prevented me from rating at all. I just want to give props to enjoyable reads . I will just copy and paste this "review" going forward.

Not a clear replacement for the original.
So, they remade the stories with multiple voice actors and sound effects. My take?
Voices for Cal, Miz, narrator, and extras did good. Takes a bit getting used to after the original but you can get there.
Mech's voice on the other hand... I miss Phil Thron's version. like a lot. So much comedy in that voice...
Lauren's voice actress have the strong impression that she was reading the part, not acting the part. One could claim that as a militant alien that she would have that sorry of speech pattern.. but i still hate it.
The music at times was too loud and nearly drowns out the narrator (minus the one point on the story when that makes sense). Same thing goes for SFX. The QC guy on the volume control board needs to get their fonking ears checked..

I Funking Love this series.
This is a great, and I repeat great dramatized adaptation. Graphic Audio does an amazing job as always. The way the author makes the characters personalities is just plain brilliance in my opinion. I definitely recommend this book or this adaptation of it to any sci-fi lover or anyone just looking for a great story.

Excellent Graphic Audio Book!
This was my first graphic audio book. I have done other audio books and no offense to the narrators who have an incredibly difficult job of trying to speak clearly and at a reasonable pace, but hearing the same person trying to make up different voices for different characters is at times laughable. What makes it worse is when you have in your mind what a favorite character sounds like and the narrator's impression doesn't come close. Graphic audio books with a large cast of voice actors and sound effects (nice to hear foley artists at work) makes everything so much more enjoyable.
This particular series has a great story line, the main characters, especially Cal Carver, are wonderfully detailed and very 3-dimensional. Very few things can make me laugh out loud and fortunately I listen to these when I am making long road trips by myself as this series has me laughing a lot! I am currently on the third book in the series and hope that there are a lot to follow!

Not just Underrated - Space Underrated
Do yourself a favor and get hooked on this team of misfit aliens, including the human, but especially the Splurt. I'm currently on the 11th Adventure after only a month. Seriously, I think this series is making me develop some kind of Space mental illness. It's awesome.
