About this listen

Nick Angriff’s ultimate enemy finally takes the stage, and the 7th cavalry will never be the same. Operation Overtime has come through its first winter in post-collapse America in better shape than expected. Food is plentiful, the city of Prescott is healing, and there’s even a battalion of new recruits for the Marines.

Everything seems to be going Angriff’s way, until people start trying to kill him again. When the aggressive Chinese send an armored force to capture old America’s largest tank farm, Angriff can rally only desperate measures to stop them. But first, he must crush the traitors, both inside and outside of Operation Overtime.

Angriff must rely on others to do what he has always done for himself. As the body count mounts, he has to determine who he can trust and who wants him dead.

In the tradition of Standing the Final Watch and Standing in the Storm, traitors, assassins, and secrets explode in a rocket-powered roller coaster called Standing at the Edge.

Angriff’s family tree blossoms!

Another great continuation of a terrific series. There’s no slacking off the pace in this third volume. The Chinese have been knocked back but they are still a determined foe. They have their eyes set on an old tank farm/ordinance repository to restore their losses on Highway 10 in the previous volume. The Islamic cult to the east appears to be content licking their wounds for the moment but they are still a mighty force to be dealt with. Light is being shown upon the rebel forces having the tattooed “GR” on their forearm. Linking GR’s wealth with the Chinese could cause serious problems for Angriff. Between GR’s mercenaries and the misled Americans under General Steeple, assassination attempts continue against Angriff, his leaders, and his family. Speaking of Angriff’s family, there are new revelations to be learned. Our darling Nipple also endures trials in confronting fears from the past. Aside from the continuous action, this volume delves further into the personal lives and emotions of the main characters. This is welcomed additional background to get to know the players even better before advancing to the final volume. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A the game-winner

We've done most of eastern-south states and with a sight of post-apocalyptic America now the stages for the swimming war to come i xan't wait.

do I felt the lack of info on the 7's was a mistake on the authors part has we haven't heard from them since book 2.

Great idea, but overly political.

I love idea. Post-apocalyptic military trying to rebuild America. But the author can't go more than 30 minutes without dumping politics into it. I try to ignore it all but I always get to about the third or fourth book in this series and then got to give it up.
