Publisher's summary

Garrett Goodlove hates liars. As a lawyer, he’s forced to deal with more than his fair share of cheats and con artists, but lately, he’s been getting fed up.

Goodlove suspects that his latest client, a jolly babushka by the name of Aksana Ivanova, is a grandmaster of deception. His law partner disagrees. But how can they be sure?

Soon after they get her weapons-possession charge dismissed on a technicality, the Redwood Point DA arrests her on a charge of first-degree murder. Apparently, the weapon found in the trunk of her car was used in an assassination.

Perhaps Ms. Ivanova isn’t who everyone thinks she is.

If Goodlove can’t figure out when she’s lying and when she’s telling the truth, he won’t be able to defend her.

Worse, he comes to fear that keeping her out of jail might not be such a good idea.

Loved it

Loved the light hearted nature and all the characters good for all ages. Great info on the struggle to grow a crop that once was acceptable in the 1930s

Gripping

This is my first experience with reading a book by Al Macy. I enjoyed reading the story and it kept my attention throughout.

The book is well written and is realistic. The characters are interesting. I chose the book because the story takes place in Northern California’s Humboldt County. The protagonist is Garrett Goodlove, a criminal attorney. In this story he is defending an elderly lady, or, as the author puts it, a “jolly babushka” named Asksana Ivanova. If you enjoy legal thrillers, give this book a try. You will not be disappointed.

The book is five hours and fifty-seven minutes. Nick Sullivan does a great job narrating the book. Sullivan is an actor and audiobook narrator. He is great with the ethnic characters.

Super legal thriller with excellent narration...

Sufficient Evidence is the second book in the Garrett Goodlove series. The first is Conclusive Evidence. Both are legal thrillers that can be listened to as stand alones.
This book has Garrett representing an older Russian woman (a babushka) who is accused of murder. At first the attorney doesn’t believe her , then he does, and then with new information he’s on the fence again. So many twists and turns that by the time you find out the truth you’re kind of surprised it took that last final turn.
This author’s style of writing reminds me very much of John Ellsworth.
I basically purchased the first book because Nick Sullivan is the narrator and I really enjoy listening to him. Sullivan also narrates the Wayne Stinnett books as well as his own. Luckily the stories are equally as good.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Surprisingly Good

I was disappointed at the 'short' story I was about to purchase because the longer the book, the better for me. But I was surprised and delighted with this author's style of writing and really enjoyed the book. I just purchased another one by this author so I will keep you posted.

Mr. Macy

Is well on his way to creating an awesome franchise legal series.

His ability to tickle the funny bone as he writes a great story line makes for an excellent listen with Mr. Sullivan being spot on with his narration. These two are going to be an addictive combo, for sure.

I am still impressed with the way Mr. Macy manages to add the use of American sign language into the story line without loosing the reader/listener. The way he adds the fact A.S.L. is being used is seamless without making the reader/listener feel like they are missing something "in the translation".

His story lines move fast and keep you wanting more. I don't have even one urge to skip on to get past a droning on part of the story line.

This is the second in the series but works great as a stand alone. The background of all the characters are filled in enough a new reader/listener won't be lost, but not rehashed to the point a return listener reader will be bored due to redundancy.

I would absolutely grab "Conclusive Evidence" first, but it isn't a gotta do to enjoy this listen.

I received this book (at no charge) from the author in return for my review.
