About this listen

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Iris Johansen is back with the first book in a chilling new Eve Duncan trilogy that asks the question: Will Eve survive what lies ahead?

Forensic sculptor Eve Duncan’s mission is to bring closure to the families whose loved ones have vanished. She knows their anguish - her own beloved daughter, Bonnie, was taken from her when Bonnie was just seven years old. It is only recently that this mystery was resolved and Eve could begin her journey to peace. Now Jim Doane wants the same kind of answers that Eve always longed for. His 25-year-old son may or may not be dead, and he has only burned skull fragments as possible evidence. But he cannot go to the police for answers without risking his own secrets and exposing his dark past, so instead he chooses a bold step to find the truth - a truth that takes Eve down a twisted path of madness and evil and into the darkest heart of her own history. Doane needs Eve Duncan’s skills and he’ll do anything to get them. Even if it means taking Eve.

Excellent series

Narrator is engaging. Iris Johansen makes it so even though this is a series, the reader isn't lost with the background info or part events. #UnitedStates

It's On!! Look Out Fools

Yep as Eve collects the Cream of the Crop - Best of the BEST to surround herself with in All Areas of her life, she Still has SO MANY Questions to ask & answer. Eve's commitment to Being The Best She Can Be seems to be pulling in Every Direction!! Great Lively read with new characters Always plugs my curiosity 🎉

Eve

Where does Taking Eve rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top of my list

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eve. The whole book is about her

Which character – as performed by Elisabeth Rodgers – was your favorite?

Reader did a great job

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Made you really not like her kidnapper and his dead son

Any additional comments?

Wish there was more of Bonnie in the storyline . Sometimes to many characters to keep track of but in true johansen style.

Worst Narrator Ever

Would you try another book from Iris Johansen and/or Elisabeth Rodgers?

as a long time fan of Eve Duncan books, I may never listen to another one again if it's narrated by this woman. Awful delivery, the male characters are laughable.

What didn’t you like about Elisabeth Rodgers’s performance?

everything - I may have to start reading again to enjoy the story

Another great story in the Eve Duncan Series!

If you could sum up Taking Eve in three words, what would they be?

Inventive, creative, and moving

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eve is my favorite because the book shows her as a very strong woman who wants to keep her family safe.

Have you listened to any of Elisabeth Rodgers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. It is a very good performance.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was angry with the antagonist. He is just evil or stupid or both.

no ending

If you’ve listened to books by Iris Johansen before, how does this one compare?

In the passed I could wait for a new book. But lately with the Eve, Joe, Bonnie books the ending just drop off , like this one. I read so much that I have to reread this book once the new one is released so I know what to expect.

What about Elisabeth Rodgers’s performance did you like?

Very good reader, very good

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When joe had to pick between going to Eve or Jane. We never feel any close bond between Jane and Joe. It either Joe and Eve or Eve and Jane. In this book you can feel the bond.

Any additional comments?

In most book you are happy that it leaves you waiting for more, but this one just didn't clearly ans questions. I didnt like that.

Nora Roberts / JD Robb Wanna be

What would have made Taking Eve better?

Nothing, it seemed like a ripoff of an Eve Dallas series.

Would you be willing to try another book from Iris Johansen? Why or why not?

No

What didn’t you like about Elisabeth Rodgers’s performance?

Accents

Any additional comments?

It is understood that leading into a sequel is intriguing and acceptable, but the ending of this book said nothing but commercial marketing to me. (I am going to stop writing now, buy my next book).
