About this listen

Attorney Sabre O. Brown is called upon to defend an abused 14 year-old boy of murder after a body is discovered in a shallow grave with the word GOOF scrawled across his forehead.

Years later when more bodies are unearthed baring the same GOOF signature, two more abused juveniles are accused of the gruesome slayings. In order to convince a jury of her client's innocence, Sabre must either find a copycat killer, prove the murderer was a trusted friend of the three boys, or realize her worst fear - that her teenage clients carried out their own brand of vigilante justice on the men who abused them.

It's murder not to listen to this book

Another great book by this author. The thing I like best is even when you have worked out who the killer is the author has you second guessing and even triple guessing that you have got it right as the story continues with the many twists and suspects.
I love the characters and the interaction between each other making a serious subject fun and entertaining.
The narrator was very good and I have got used to his funny voices for male characters. Which a few times can be a bit deep, making me laugh.

Great novel in a wonderful legal thriller series

The eight novels of The Advocate legal thriller series is always difficult to listen to because because all novels (to date) deal with severe child abuse or elect. Author Teresa Burrell actually works with such cases in her legal practice in the San Diego CA area. The subject of The Advocates Homicides are young teen boys being molested/raped by adult male sex predators. When the adult predators start to be murdered in serial fashion, some of their young teen victims are convicted of murder. Attorney Sabre Brown and and her ex-cop investigator/boyfriend set out to find the real murderer and free the falsely convicted boys.

This novel is #8 in The Advocate series. John Bell has superbly narrated the most recent three novels. I very highly recommend all novels in The Advocate series.

Great addition to the Advocate series

Excellent addition to the Advocate series. This book has long guilty pedophiles being murdered and in some cases their unfortunate victims getting convicted of the crimes. Sabre Brown doesn't believe that these accused kids are guilty but can't prove it. The men have prison slang for pedophile written on their forehead and instead of narrowing the list of people who could be responsible, it expends it. Unfortunately there are so many victims of child sexual abuse out there, many keep it to themselves and are ashamed to let other people know. The person responsible for these murders will surprise you.
John Bell does an excellent job narrating.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This series is NEVER dull

Like many of the young characters that Sabre represents, the sad circumstances surrounding her latest client is heartbreaking...which makes worse when he's accused of murder..but did he really do it?

Teresa is an amazing writing and proves it yet again in this book with the interesting twist towards the end of the book.

Also, John Bell is one of my favorite narrators as literally gives each character their own voice which unlike some narrators, adds to the enjoyment of this audiobook. I highly recommend it.

I received this book free at my request and I chose to leave a review because I really enjoyed it (I have nearly every audiobook and have read or listened to every one in the series)

Great Addition to Advocate Series, Best Yet!!!

John Bell narrates the 8th book in the Advocate Series. He does a great job bringing the characters I know and love to life. His unique ability to voice and emote each characters personality brings great life to one of the best books in the series.

Teresa Burrell has become a stronger writer with each book. The main character Sabre O. Brown, and crew are back in a story right out of today's true crime savvy podcasts. A innocent child railroaded into the adult system for allegedly killing the pedophile who abused him. The true to life story of children caught in the children services system where parents are on drugs or in prison is presented with compassion and a level of truth only someone familiar with the system could know. Teresa explores all facets of the San Diego justice system, its frustrations and realities while telling a engaging story that draws you in and makes you care about each character.

As multiple bodies are found of the areas pedophiles, Sabre must solve more than one murder before all her young clients end up in jail. The stakes are raised as time is running out. Will she find the killer before some close to her is caught up in this killers path of destruction.

A great addition to the Advocate Series. Listen from the beginning.

Intense

This story is very intense. It pits two timelines and engages the past and present to find the real killer. This story engaged me as I tried to figure out who the real killer is, as a young innocent boy is sent to jail for killing his abuser. This story had more emotional punch than the last couple of stories, but that is probably because the subject is an intensely emotional problem we have in this society. The narrator does an excellent job with the voices and engages you quickly into the action.

An exciting legal thriller

The Advocate’s Homicides is an exciting legal thriller about a female child advocate attorney and her young clients, in this book sexually abused boys accused of murdering their abusers.

The narrator of the audiobook does a good job, but his female voices could use work.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Hooked on this series!

I have listened to every one of The Advocate Series in order and have enjoyed all of them, but this one particularly was fascinating to me. I was initially reluctant to start it because of the dark topic, but it was handled so delicately and appropriately by this author. I was confused initially when Saber and JP were not an item, but I had missed the first sentence saying this took place three years earlier. I was glad to read reviews where this was clarified. This author deals with such serious topics due to her own experience as a child advocate and tells each story so well. Now I’m going onto book 9 and I hope Teresa Burrell will continue to write these fascinating novels. John Bell is an excellent narrator, even though he did make this one 11 year-old boy sound like a 70 year old with emphysema! 🤣
