Rule 34 DOOM fanfic

The story was okay, the narration wasn't necessarily monotone, but she lacked impact and emotion. Favorite thing about the story was that the setting seemed like a likely origin story for the DOOM franchise. The original Night Sentinels were like crusaders before the DOOM Marine started tearing up Hell with guns and rockets.

Disappointed

The story was just ok. It was confusing in the beginning and when you finally started to get involved it ended.

A wonderful world build

I truly love this world...so twisted. So full of evil, but good things shine through, to spite that!

Not bad, but a slow boil

TLDR; A lot of build-up before getting to any sort of armor battle. Not bad, but not what I was expecting.

I think this would be better classified as YA/Late Teen. The story is well written, with no obvious problems with it, but the content skips a lot of easy troupes to build the characters. It's a book written for older teens, with some pretty explicit content, explores concepts that are relevant to that age group. That said I enjoyed it, if you can work with the slow boil the payoff is worth it.

Overall, an enjoyable story, and a great bit of world-building, to keep growing in.

It shouldn't take 3/4 of the book to hook you.

While I AM hooked and have alreadt purchased book 2, this one was a slow start and for a short listen that's not good. Overall I'm satisfied with the ending and want to see where things go but I probably won't be telling my friends about this book unless they want a LGBT+ book with a female lead.

Good potential. Mediocre execution.

I found the premises of the story interesting. A young heroine looks for her place in a repressive society where nearly any transgression of convention is punishable by death. Some of the laws are there for a good reason, and some are idle exercises of power by the power-hungry ruling elite. How can our heroine tell which are which?

However, the execution left a lot to be desired. The writing was distractingly choppy and awkward. Everything felt rushed and underdeveloped. The characters were skeletons in need of fleshing out. I felt like I was reading an early draft of a promising story, not a completed work. Perhaps this author might benefit from working more closely with editors.

should have been twice as long

feels like a grab for money on this book. it was not finished. entire book was backstory until the last couple chapters. 17 bucks for a backstory kinda sucks.

The story is Meh

It's too contrived. Naive girl keeps repeating the same mistakes until bad things happen and then it ends. If it weren't free I'd be mad.

A surprisingly good read!

When I first started the book I wasn't impressed. I didn't click with the way it was written at first, didn't interest me. However, I wanted to give it a chance and within a few chapters I was hooked on it. The fact that it also addressed LGBTQ issues was just the icing on the cake.

A great story about a teenage girl dealing with repressive fanatics (similar to middle ages crusaders/pilgrims), sexist treatment and her coming into her own. A definite good read that I enjoyed. I don't want to spoil it, so that is all you get.

Good concept again, but a lot of teen angst

I seem to be getting a lot of books that I didn't know were teen literary type works. The basic concepts are pretty good and the narration is great but there is so much internal dialog of constant self doubting teen angst that it just gets annoying
