About this listen

The entire best-selling Dungeon World series is now together in one volume!

This Dungeon World Series Box Set includes:

Dungeon World, Books 1-5
Bonus short story

In a world five times larger than Earth, dungeons and their Dungeon Cores have become the top of the food chain.

Millions of dungeons inhabit the planet, utilizing the Human people as a source of much-needed Mana to facilitate their own growth; in turn, the humans delve into the dungeons to acquire their own power in the form of Essence, which allows them to develop and enhance themselves in a multitude of different ways. It is a symbiotic relationship that has lasted thousands of years and has brought about a measure of peace.

Far in the northern wilds where no Humans (and therefore - no dungeons) regularly frequent, a young man is left alone when his parents are suddenly murdered. Now, without friends, family, supplies, or even much knowledge of the wider world, Fredwynklemossering embarks on a journey to discover who - or what - killed his parents. Along the way, however, he learns more than he bargained for, including his seemingly impossible status as a Dungeon Core/Human hybrid. With that knowledge comes a shift in his objective; revenge against those who wronged him turns out to pale in comparison to the dangers the Humans will face in the future.

Will Fred be able to successfully straddle the line between the Human and Dungeon Core worlds? Unfortunately, he’ll have to, or else the entire Dungeon World may be doomed....

Contains 564,000 words, LitRPG/GameLit elements such as statistics and leveling, as well as dungeon construction and defense. No harems and no profanity.

Time well spent

I enjoy this story. It’s stat pages got a little ridiculous in book two but the progress and overall struggles and success the hero of this story goes through we’re great.

Fun.

This is a dungeon core story. If you like dungeon core stories, this one is a little different than usual, but it's got all the dungeon building, monster creating, and dungeon defence fights you could ask for, with a reasonably overpowered MC to top it all off.

It's not high literature, but it's good clean dungeon building fun. Things are well explained and not ridiculous. Even our MC being overpowered has an actual non insane in universe reason which is more than can be said of many stories.

Recommended. I've listened to it twice so far and don't doubt I'll do so again when the mood strikes.

great story

very well written...it had direction and purpose, it closed well without leaving you empty...rather fulfilling in contrast to some authors . well worth the time.

Like reading the Cliff notes of a good story

Kudos to the author for the book series. I have not yet written a book, and maybe I don’t have the talent. I like what this story could have been, but I had to force myself to read it.

The writing was like reading the Cliff Notes summary of a good story. It was basically just the facts with dialogue thrown in. The pace felt like watching a movie in fast forward. The dialogue, like reading a comic book. I couldn’t connect emotionally to any character because there was little concentration on their actual feelings.

I felt like I was reading through the perspective of a strongly neurodivergent individual, but even that could have been better described. I wished for more descriptions of the environment and what characters were actually experiencing.

so so

the setting is good and I enjoy the characters and abilities. only problem comes is during the middle. the same setting seems to happen over and over and I became tired of being told about the characters entire stats each chapter, especially when they stop allowing you to skip them.

A really great hero's journey - against all odds adventure

I really enjoyed experiencing the story from a "non-human" side. Great character development and a classic hero's journey story. It gets pretty addictive and funny in some parts.

My favorite "characters" are the hungers. Lol. Really great writing.

I'm looking forward to exploring more books in this universe.

Narration starts of a little slow and makes you feel like you're listening to a children's book in beginning. It diversifies eventually.

After book 2 it's bad

the book gets crazy repetitive. you can skip 90% of the book because it's the exact same thing. battling monster wave in a different way, even the scene doesn't change.

the author must have really gotten bored towards the end because he just made up a quick and easy way to end the book. there were a few plot points in earlier books that were just useless to the story so probably should just be edited out at this point. overall, the author kept it going for me but I wish I had just gone from book 2 to the last half of book 5.

refreshing take to a dungeon core

I really enjoyed this audible, the take of a dungeon core was new to me. The performance kept my attention. He really did a great job. and 52 hours for a credit is a great deal. I would recommend this book

a solid dungeon Core series, that ending though.

overall it's a pretty good series, I enjoyed it till right about the end. The ending isn't very good because it's essentially, I suddenly became a God and snapped everything better solution and it's pretty lame, I also find the way that nobody ever seem to get truly angry at the main character for being insanely Reckless pretty unrealistic. Over all its good just those gripes.
