About this listen

Ten years ago, all the superhumans vanished. No one knows what happened to them - until now. Thirteen-year-olds Danny and Colin are shocked to discover that they are in fact the beginning of a renewed superhuman race.

As they rise to take the place of the lost generation, the unimaginable truth behind the explosive final battle that occurred 10 years ago between the superheroes and the supervillains is exposed. And when the past resurfaces, Danny and his fellow superheroes must face the new challenges that threaten their survival.

On the run from everyone, and not knowing who is friend or foe, the one ability the new heroes are going to need most is the power to distinguish good from evil.

Ragnarok

The story was very well written, and for the most part, the narrator did a fairly decent job. The only complaint I have is the way he pronounced Ragnarok.

Narration

While not bad, the narrator sounds like he should be reading young children's books. It's difficult to focus on the serious situations when it feels like I'm listening to the narrator of Curious George. Also when reading a characters inner thoughts he doesn't use their voice, rather he reads it normally. No other audio book narrator I've heard does that, so it kept throwing me off.
I thought it was a bit interesting how he uses classic style comic hero voices for the characters, though I believe it would have been better of they only spoke that way while in costume as a way of masking their true voice. As it is we have to hear Titan in his Crimson Chin voice throughout it all, even when he's supposed to be shouting in defence of his son, and it's quite silly.
Stories like Journey to the West can make this work more, since those kinds of stories are written in a more comical style. However I think it works to the detriment of the storie in this case.
Overall I think a somewhat more drama style narration would work better, especially for the parts of the series that include Krodin. I genuinely can't imagine this narration style describing Krodin killing slaves or throwing heads through people's chests.
