About this listen

Still battling each other and the blue wall, NYPD detectives Chiara Corelli and P. J. Parker catch a new murder case. The victim, a gay man, is posed with a rosary in his hands, the smell of incense in the air, and Gregorian chants playing in the background.

While Corelli and Parker search for leads, Kate Burke, the lesbian speaker of the city council, asks for an update on the investigation. Thinking Burke is playing politics, Corelli ignores the request. In the meantime, two more bodies are found, both laid out in the same way.

Pressured by the chief, Corelli goes to Kate's office, where a photograph of the speaker with a group of friends catches her eye. Corelli recognizes the three victims and, to her horror, three others. Suddenly the case becomes personal.

Fearing a serial killer is picking off the people in the photograph, fearing the next victim will be someone she loves, Corelli races to find the murderer before he kills again.

Great Character Evolution And Well Written!

Enjoyed the evolution of the main characters in this series. Hopefully, the third book in this series will continue the relationship between partners being more trusting with each other. Also hoping the romance evolving with Chiara will continue. Fabulous narration with that superb tone!

Loved this book

Wonderful follow up to book one. I enjoy this series as much as JD Robb’s In Death books. AbbyCraden and Susan Erickson are my favorite narrators.

Love this series

It's a refreshing change from the formulaic approach many follow. I really love the character development and the "mystery" aspect is intriguing.

Excellent

Really enjoyed all of it. Story line was excellent, although the police line every morning was a bit over the top, but then I am not in that position so I don't know. I loved the narration. Can't wait for the next one.

Excellent Detective Series!

“The Blood Runs Cold” by Catherine Maiorisi is even better than the first book in the series. If you are looking for romance then you will be disappointed, but if you want to read an excellent detective series with a lesbian lead then you need to put this on your TBR. Abby Craden also does an excellent job with the narration.

“The Blood Runs Cold” follows the investigation of a string of murders of gay people in New York City. The author really captures NYC, traditional Italian families, and the city’s gay community.

The crimes are bad and we see homophobia and hate groups, but there is also such an empathetic focus on the victims’s loved ones. Catherine Maiorisi is a good writer who makes you feel the emotions of the characters. There were so many emotional and heartfelt scenes. The way the author portrayed the reactions of the supportive family members made me cry along with them.

The main characters have also really grown from book to book and I really enjoyed learning about Parker’s backstory in this one.

I already downloaded the third book and am moving on with the series. It’s so good!

An Adrenaline Ride

Once again an intriguing crime to solve. So many twists and turns in the characters lives augmented the storyline in a very captivating way… I did not identify the murderer until the story was nearing its end. The ending was enough of a cliffhanger to inspire my next purchase
